    Agreed. I started with squat stands - no safeties - and a chinup bar. Only restriction was I had to do high-bar, I've never been able to dump the bar off my back from low-bar.

    Hit up a good gym like PTC down in Carrum Downs. You'd have to do afternoons or evenings rather than mornings, but who the fuck wants to squat at 6 o'clock in the morning? That's just silly. The alarm clock is an extra barrier to your starting back.

    I wouldn't be doing cleans at this stage. Nor would I start with deadlifts, were I training you. We'd start with high box squats and rack pulls, and gradually build up the weight, then drop the weight and increase the range of motion, and so on.
