    Boxjumps as an accessory

I have a copy of "The Jump Manual" around that I must read - covers a program to increase the leap that seems pretty popular. You're probably covering half of it anyways. With bball I found the hardest thing in doing any sort of weight training was getting in enough cardio, to not be a...

    Boxjumps as an accessory

I got warned to manage the amount of "contacts" I do when I do them, so to be very careful with the volume. I don't weigh very much (73kg), but I admit to a level of concern reading this thread. I play bball so can get a fair bit of jumping volume in anyway, but this is why I've done boxjumps...

    Boxjumps as an accessory

I enjoy boxjumps, though get weird looks from people at the gym when I do them. Haven't done them from a bit so this thread is a good reminder to do them. A couple of the ones I do are described here: Leg Plyometric Exercises Mostly I do depth jumps, box jumps, bounds unto a platform and tuck...

Opinions on the cycle diet or in other words (super compensation diet)

Hey mate, how has your personal experience with all this gone? Reading Lyle McDonald's book at the moment and made me think of the similarities of what you were talking about here.

Southbank / South Melbourne gym recommendations

Had a free pass for Recreation South Melbourne, so gave them a go last night. Was surprisingly popular and equipment was packed in more tightly than I'm used to. That said I got what I needed - but given that most of the stuff there is machine based, I was just lucky I think. I saw one person...

If this is still open, I wouldn't mind a sample! Keen to test out if I like the stuff.

    Supplement Advice

What fish oil to get hey? I got some mega cheap ones from a local vitamin shop. However it seems fish oil is better if it has a high DHA to EPA ratio (Fadi wrote about it a while back). Looking at my (and most) cheap fish oils, they are high in EPA... So I have recently ordered this...

Protein digestion -> Betaine HCl / Pepsin Enzyme

Thanks for the feedback! Good to hear from someone who is trying it. Basically this is what I keep hearing, from the article you linked to: "If you don't have enough HCL to convert pepsinogen to pepsin, then it doesn't matter if you eat 300 grams of protein, because you're hardly going to...

Protein digestion -> Betaine HCl / Pepsin Enzyme

I don't think I have any digestion problems, but for the "acid test". Which I suspected is aimed at most people failing and thus having to buy into the Poliquin/whoever supplement regimes... Just find it interesting really. With all the various supplements people take, the ways they are...

Sure, $140. Thought I may be able to find cheaper online, but also feel bad wasting the guys time, and then having to wait for them to arrive. Will report back after some gym sessions in them.

Protein digestion -> Betaine HCl / Pepsin Enzyme

So digging through a bunch of old containers of half finished vitamins over the weekend, and I found some "Protein digestive aid" - basically a combination of Betaine Hydrochloric Acid and the Pepsin enzyme. This is something I got led into when I "won" a bunch of free Poliquin Body...

    Gym Shoes Thread

Hey mate, managed to pick up a black pair of the 195's over the weekend. They feel pretty good, nice and flat, grippy. Light. Not too spongy but still feel solid. And really convenient that they're narrow, which suits me perfectly. Keen to check them out in the gym this week. Definitely...

    Gym Shoes Thread

Although my Brooks racers wouldn't be too bad on their own, I have been using orthotics in them. So yes starting from ground zero. Only planning a little bit of running, just to top up on cardio levels from time to time. 30m-1hr a week perhaps. Have emailed Pinnacle to see what they've got...

Yep, I was actually angling for a response from you :) So where did you get these? They look a good option. I can't find out if anywhere physical (Melb) stocks them, I'd be keen to try them on rather than buy blind on the net.. EDIT: Found some stockists through distributor...

    Gym Shoes Thread

Back thinking about "what shoes" again... I've been really unstable when squatting. I have flat feet and naturally over-pronate. The rolling-in action of the ankles can translate up to the knees, making these collapse in. Various shoes I've tried (Bball shoes, Chucks, runners) don't solve...

    Motivate the girl to gym

Watching thread with interest. You're doing better than me at it - at least your GF is doing a few walks, beats what I've been able to get mine to do! There's just no desire for exercise in some people. Would love to see if I can help my GF find a fitness interest, that she'll want to do on...
