AAS and chemists.

LOL and i know how sus this might look..

A friend and I were just having a debate about this topic and I figured someone might know the answer (Sticky)?

If you are asking if they are prescription I would say yes, we'll they are in NSW. I think this is governed by Federal law not state law. I'm other words illegal without prescription.

No,

I am asking if they are an AUTHORITY REQUIRED prescription drug.. bit of a difference between just normal prescription and authority required prescription

I don't think so jchen -but it depends on the steroid and what purpose it's for?

If you're talking anabolic, I don't think so - but you can give medicare a call and ask, am sure they'd be able to give you an answer straight away?

With Authority Prescribed drugs, the practitioner (DR) needs to get authority from medicare to actually provide a prescription to the individual -the prescriptions, as far as I know, can be in much larger quantities than what the average person may require, and typically include chemotherapy drugs, steroids for asthma and lung disease etc. (my mothers oral chemotherapy were 'authority required' prescription drugs)

For anabolic steroids, I highly doubt they're an 'authority required' prescription. Especially as Dr's and pharmacists are still being incarcerated and charged for prescribing and fulfilling repeated and exacerbated prescriptions for anabolic steroid abuse in Queensland?

An 'Authority Required' prescription, alleviates the need to prosecute any professional for prescribing or dispensing the drug, as they are first required to gain confirmation from medicare before progressing with the prescription or dispensement for each individual patient.

But I could be wrong....

i thought "Authority Required" was only for PBS/RPBS drugs?
if not on the PBS list, there is no gumbyment payment, so no need for them to authorise dispensing?

It depends on the doc, most will put it under an "authority prescription"(for what the reason you need it),which is subsidised by the government which makes it cheaper than if its under private.Though i have been informed by a pharmist that sust 250,is now not subsidised by the government therefore making it an private script only med.It sucks if its under authority as its monitored.

If the doctor chooses to give you something on a "authority script",it is a different script than what you normally get..The doctor makes a phone call(while you are with them)to the the centre where the doc tells them what they are prescribing you and what condition you have,in return the doc is given an authority number, which they write down onto the script. If you dont want to pay full price and have the government subidise the drug it needs to have an authority script, which makes it cheaper, but is monitored. You are still able to have them prescribed if the doctor will as a private script.

Yes and no.

If you want it on PBS, it goes through medicare. Your doc needs to call them while you are there to get authority.

They can however, like most meds, be done on private scripts..... That means, he writes it, you fill it, no questions asked.

Thats how maggots wrought the system.

When i say monitored im am talking about, lets use sust250 as an example and the docs given you a authority scirpt for 3x1ml by three repeats, and you are to have 1ml injection every two weeks, which is stated on the authority script. So thats a total of 12x1ml's,which taken every two weeks should last you 24weeks(6mths).Should you go back to that doc or another before the six months and try and get another script of sust on authority, when they make the phone call, they will say(as its on record) you should have this amount left to use,and deny the script.

Compared to private like "Sticky" states,if your doc will give you a private script, you can fill it pay full price and no questions asked

Interesting,

so it is completely up to the doctor writing the script , if they cross the PBS boxes out that means you just pay full price and it doesn't require authority to be filled?

Thanks for clearing this up guys, lol as you can see I have no idea about this stuff, now to go win this debate.

The pharmacist will quesiton why authority has not been requested.

And i have been refused from a pharmacist due to my size and being told its for bodybuilding.

This was with testogel not injectable s and i misplaced some satchels when i moved house so i needed extra that authority wouldnt cover.

new to the country, what is the difference between authority required prescription drugs and regular prescription drugs?
