I don't think so jchen -but it depends on the steroid and what purpose it's for?
If you're talking anabolic, I don't think so - but you can give medicare a call and ask, am sure they'd be able to give you an answer straight away?
With Authority Prescribed drugs, the practitioner (DR) needs to get authority from medicare to actually provide a prescription to the individual -the prescriptions, as far as I know, can be in much larger quantities than what the average person may require, and typically include chemotherapy drugs, steroids for asthma and lung disease etc. (my mothers oral chemotherapy were 'authority required' prescription drugs)
For anabolic steroids, I highly doubt they're an 'authority required' prescription. Especially as Dr's and pharmacists are still being incarcerated and charged for prescribing and fulfilling repeated and exacerbated prescriptions for anabolic steroid abuse in Queensland?
An 'Authority Required' prescription, alleviates the need to prosecute any professional for prescribing or dispensing the drug, as they are first required to gain confirmation from medicare before progressing with the prescription or dispensement for each individual patient.
But I could be wrong....
