The NYPD was a little bike happy last Wednesday, May 30th. According to witnesses, they showed up without warning and used circular saws to cut the locks off of about 50 bicycles on 6th street between 1st and 2nd Avenue. The NYPD allowed people to take the loose bikes without showing any proof of ownership. They seized 15 bikes (including bikes locked to D.O.T. bike racks) and arrested two bystanders.

also a video of the raid here http://blip.tv/file/252942/

if the cops tried to do that to my bike , i'd be calling for blood
good to hear that someone had the sense to take some footage and the lady was decent enough to stand up against the unlawful arrest

haven't had any troubles from police over locking my bike up , but the wanna be power trip poof security guards have tried to tell me where i can and can't lock my bike up even when its not on the property that they are paid to protect
