Grats to all.. lots of national records were broken.

I pulled a 2200kg total as I was assigned the task of changing the weights lol

yeh I think ceffo easily got the biggest total.... luckily your doing all that conditioning up in sydney... I notice big Greg was struggling with the laoding.. looked like he had run 20km.

Nice total by Matt Collins.

How many people qualified for Nationals? I only know the 82.5kg class number (540kg total), so from that class, only Michael qualified.

I think they are going to change the qualifying for some classes as some believe they are too high.

Matt is a animal.. His squat and bench did not look anywhere near maxxed.

I dont think they are too high.....

540kg for NATIONAL level competitor I think is fine.

I do however, think more local 3 lift comps need to be held. At least 4 a year.

I agree the totals arent that high BUTTTTT Raw is too new to have the totals that high.. whats the point in having a national comeptition with 3 competitors... Look at all weightlifitng world championships there is only ever 2-3 winning chances but the other 7-10 guys are still busting there ass to hit PBS and do there best...
Nationals shoudl consist of a full field of 10 in each flight like in olympic lifting. The top 10 ranked lifters in each weight class regardless of whether they total 300 or 800... That is my opinion.

+1 I agree

I very much agree with your edit lol.

10 lifters in each class regardless of totals would be great.

The 82.5's from my understanding, will be lowered. So I think that's Ben Cove and one or two others that will compete.

Michael is dead on. Raw lifting is accessible and many people are willing to do it. When a national event has 70+ competitors we know PL and strength sports are going places.

I thought Nats last year had much more than 70?

I don't have to qualify as I'm a jnr :p. I'm hoping I total way above 540 anyway.

I emailed Pual before xmas & explained that going on the past two years no one in 82's would qualify for nats (assuming Kelly from PTC is not competing this year) I was told there would be heaps of 82's from NSW.

From there I went 165/115/240 in Darwin. In attempt to get 540 I took two attempts at 260 and both were misses at the knees.

I then spoke to Paul on Friday (before flying to Melbs) & was told they were going to lower the total by 20-30kg depending on WA's results last sunday.

After further speaking to Markos it is now suggested any 82 with a 500 total is able to compete at the Nats.

In other words, I have no f&^king idea if I am competing in Albury or not.

Well that's confusing
Just turn up with your gear anyway and act like you should be competing
ps I'm not sure that 3rd deadlift got off the ground lol
