Using Gym Equipment Safely


It doesn't matter where you use the equipment whether it be down at your local gym/fitness club or if you established a home gym and use your own gym equipment, One thing that stays true is that it's always important that you know how to use the equipment in the correct way so as not to sustain any injuries. Overuse and misuse of equipment are some the main causes of injuries in the gym. So to help limit the risk of injuries here are some tips on what to look for and how to use the equipment safe and correctly .

Equipment Safety


  • ALlways make sure to test Equipment before you buy it , see if it feels safe enough to use .
  • Check that Equipment is safe to use before commencing any excercise
  • Gym Equipment and children don't mix ,Keep young children away from home gym equipment. If they do use equipment make sure they are supervised
  • Do regular checks on cables on weight machines, looking for signs of fraying or damaged cables,loose bolts etc
Equipment Types

Whether you buy new or used equipment is up to you and what your budget can afford. Every machine exercises different muscles groups, some will help increase strength while while others build stamina.

Exercise Bikes

Exercise Bikes are common piece of equipment found in most gyms
Exercise Bikes work the leg muscles and limit the strain put on joints

A word of warning when using a Cross Trainer/elliptical trainer Always hold the handles and keep in a standing position.

A final note when working out using any form of Equipment be it free weights of machines Doesn't matter if you're working out at a home or in the gym always learn the proper and correct techniques for using the machines. Working out using incorrect form or techniques may result in an injury.
