How do you fit it all in?

You're putting yourself under tremendous stress just so that you can get away on a short holiday to...reduce stress?

During the upcoming Christmas break, think about your priorities and cut out whatever you don't really need. Figuring out one's priorities is the most important thing as a young adult. I only just begin to understand mine.

I have found out this year that you can not put to much pressure or stress on urself or everything will get on top of you - comming from someone who is working 110-115 + hours a fortnight for the last year + you need to take things as they come when your young (Im only 22) - try not to stress about money, future, study etc etc - I know that it becomes tough sometimes to not do this but to keep urself sane you cant let it get ontop of you.

I have learnt this year that money isnt everything and you dont need to be making huge amounts of money while studying ....thats why you study to make plenty of money once you have done the work!

Have a plan for the future but dont stress to much if everything does not go 100% right - you can only control so much after that just let things happen how they happen....

Next year Im making a big change that will prob see a drop in income but a increase in less stress and more time for myself, study and my parnter...which at this age is more important to me....

Believe me I know how things can fuck with ur mind and get on top of you! but have fun doing what your doing and try not to stress out!

Well said Powersports, that seems to be the resounding message, nothing needs to be taken too seriously. Sometimes I think I need to see that, my family is a family of achievers, and what one person might consider a success from my perspective and my families is considered expected.

As a result I'm always being pushed to be better and it comes hard to fit it all in.

Thankyou for everyones responses so far, everything everyone has said has been valid and well said (even ceffo's :p).

Coming from a family of high achievers (and being one of those high achieving students in the past) myself, you should deal with that as if it's lifting. Meaning: it is a marathon, not a sprint. Always strive to improve, but improving yourself consistently over the years is most important. Achieving something big one year then stalling for the next 5 is not good.

That's what you should tell them as well, when they try to push you. Hold your ground, move at your own pace, don't let their pressure get to your head, don't rush. As long as you're continuing to move forward, you're doing just fine. Like lifting totals, always try to beat your own lifts and not worry about other people's lifts. Before you know it, that consistency will result in you being far ahead of them.

I take my achievements seriously but I don't attach myself to them to the point that I can't let go of them. I also don't seek anyone's approval, even my loved ones.

Well if the hole is still too tight.. tell her to relax especially if its the first time in the back door and things will just slide in..

wait whats this thread about?

As others have already said, there are two important elements that need to work together. Priority and Time Management.

When I was about 13 I decided I wanted to be a barrister. So, I worked my arse off. I gave up socialising with friends (to a great extent), didn't participate in any sports, and focussed 100% of my time on achieving the ENTER score required to go to the university of my choice. Then, voi la, the score comes in, and it's where it needs to be. I start my law degree at Monash, and only then did I stop to re-evaluate my priorities. Bottom line - I absolutely hated law.

So, stop and think - Do you really want a holiday overseas? If yes, then do it. You'll stretch yourself thin - but it is ok if it's what you want (and there's light at the end of the tunnel).

Gareer - this is a simple process, which requires little thought and less procrastination. It doesn't take very long - so just do it, and stop stressing about it!

- Write down what you want
- Write down how many hours of sleep you need to function correctly
- Distribute your remaining hours between your priorities

I.e.

Sleep - 7 hours (17 hours to spare)
Uni - 6 hours
Work - 6 hours
Workout - 1 hour
Travel - 1.5 hours
Eating (and Prep) - 1.5 hours
Showering, Cleaning, Chores, etc - 1 hour

Oops! Where's the chill out time? Relaxing? Catching up with family/friends? Watching a movie? Reading a book?

Bottom line - you can't spend any more than 24 hours in one day!

I would suggest (as others have):

- Consolidate your jobs. You'll have less time management problems, and most importantly here (in your circumstance), you'll pay considerably less tax. Live 100% within your means.

- Delay the holiday by 12 months. Don't cancel it. We all have to have something to work towards.

- Remember, the concept of success is another form of failure if we forget what we really want.

All the Best,

Aaron.

I was going to set aside some time to give you some detailed advice but decided it wasn't really a priority for me and that I could manage my time more effectively.

You feel where I'm coming from bro?

You should drop 2-3 of your activities and focus on what's truly important. Like posting on this forum, lol.

Especially the Hot Babes Thread!

I overload.

I work better under the pressure, but it also has the consequences of burning me out quicker. So I take a couple of breaks throughout the year from heaps of things.
