    Squat shoes

What squat shoes do you guys reckon are any good for powerlifting? Looking for something that won't cost $300 or some retarded price like that. Something $100-150 or less would be nice, with a elevated heel for squat depth and bench press.

    Judging the Squat Depth

“A legal squat is performed when the top of the upper thigh at the hip (the “crease” of the hip) passes below the height of the knee.” Why are some Federations still passing high squats in competition? For the glory of the fed? The lifter? Skimping on judge talents? What image does it portray...

body proportions and hitting squat depth

Everybody has a different ratio of torso length to femur length. The proposition that I'm putting forth here is that for some people, that ratio impedes their ability to hit a legal squat depth and a further subset may never be able to make a legal squat at all. This first diagram shows a long...

Squatting, Depth and Hamstrings: A Different Point of View

***I've also posted this on fitocracy.*** It's story time. The very first time I did squats as an exercise, I was 14 years old and doing martial arts. The instructor didn't say anything about depth one way or another, so I was blissfully unaware of how big a shitstorm was going on in the...

    Squat depth

Lots of conversation on this subject lately, lets stick it all in this thread and leave John's alone. Those that competed or watched ProRawOne know where I stand on this subject. A squat is a deep knee bend, you must break parallel, says so in every rule book. You must also start with locked...
