    I'm quite new to the MTB scene , so forgive me for sounding like an idiot, but what is the use of the clipless pedals, and does any MTBer actually use them? I can't imagine being stuck to my bike, and hiting something i didn't see ,only to try and jump off but find my face buried in dirt...

    [Cycling] Why named 'clipless' if the shoes CLIP into the pedals?

    might seem like a dump question but I am wondering why the clipless shoes and pedal combo are indeed called "clipless" when in fact they DO clip. Shouldn't they be called 'clip' or 'clipped' instead of "clipLESS"?
