    Weight lifting belts

Hey all, I’m after some advice/tips on weight lifting belts as I have never owned or used one before and am not an experienced bodybuilder. At what sort of weight do you start using a belt for your heavy compound lifts and does it stop you building a stronger core? Any advice/tips would be...

    Strength Vs Endurance

Increasing strength is a great way to build muscle, but how much muscle are you building if you increase your 8RM by 2.5kg that month? Eventually you run out of exercises that you can reliably get stronger on to build muscle However muscular endurance, the amount of volume you can do within a...

Powerlifting Plus Crossfit. Can they co-exist?

Kind of following on from Rob's thread on conditioning. Powerlifting fundamentally is a skill based pursuit based on the expression of maximal strength, which often combines power training with bodybuilding. Crossfit is probably the most efficient activity for creating a solid fitness base...

Stiff legged deadlift and Ukrainian deadlift

Due to popular belief these to exercises are not the same and one is a bastardised form of the other due to people being impatient and trying to add weight before perfecting form. the SLDL is an example of an exercise where you must start light as opposed the the Ukrainian version. due to the...

    Lift heavy, lean out

LIFT HEAVY, LEAN OUT So, you've got your mass-building program, but what happens when you want to cut? You'll have to switch up the program, right? Absolutely wrong! If the heavy lifting is what built the muscle in the first place, that's what's going to keep it there. If anything, strive to...

Medium grip bench press vs Wide grip

I was messing with incline bench press yesterday, and I noticed I'm alot stronger with medium grip than wide grip. I have small pecs (narrower shoulders) and large arms. So my triceps probably benefit more. Also I've been hearing that you can get better "leverage" with a closer grip, and it's...

Are lifting straps for the weak?

The direct answer is no they're not for the weak, unless you consider some of the world's strongest men weak! When you're lifting really heavy (relative to you) for repetitions, or you're holding a weight statically momentarily before moving it (such in a halting deadlift position with a...

Abdominal Training Theory - Jeff Cavaliere

Very interesting theory that goes against everything I've been taught. Have always been to exhale upon contraction pushing air from diaphragm allowing muscles to contract stronger. Today, I did as Jeff said in his video, and the contractions were just as strong as if I had done the opposite...

    Your diet.

Just curious PL's how you determine your diet? Do you adjust cals accord to strength gains or weight gain? How do you balance eating enough to gain strength but not too much that you get fat? Or perhaps you don't care how fat you get as long as you get stronger?

    As you get stronger

Does the ability to recover increase in proportion to our ability to get stronger (more muscular)? please share your experience, only if you have been working out *continually* for no less than 3 years. i suspect we need to do less overall exercise to continue to even stronger.
