Why do you train?

At the age of 15, because extreme energy had to be released, and it just so happened that I was at the right place at the right time, to start Olympic weightlifting.

At the age of 53, because sarcopenia does not discriminate between races, and it'll get you if you don't acknowledge its strength first and do something about it.

Sarcopenia for people who don't know, is the loss of muscle mass as one gets older. As a good doctor friend of mine once told me, we don't lose muscle because we get older, we get older because we lose muscle.

We get older and our priorities in life change according to our circumstances. The ones amongst us who lift weights (for whatever reason), will be the ones to weather the storm and come out of it in a better situation than if they hadn't lifted.
