Precautions to take when buying/selling.

Please note: Ausbb - Australian Bodybuilding Owners, Administrators or Mods play no part in any of the sales.

Ausbb - Australian Bodybuilding Owners, Administrators or Mods have no part in price negotiation in the forums, nor are we responsible for ensuring delivery, quality or even existence of goods advertised, bought or sold in the forums. Caveat emptor (Buyer beware)!

The following list of precautions should help you with buying and selling on the forums.

1. Before any trades on the forums; Contact the buyer/seller via PM, and get details such as their Full name, current address and email, current phone number(home/work/mobile). Ring the numbers double checking that the person exists at the numbers given. Cross reference the addresses with the white pages. Check that the email address given works try and get an isp or business email rather then a freebie (hotmail/gmail) you could even check the email header for ip addresses

2. Get in contact with previous people that they have traded with.

3. Keep all receipt numbers of sent money(time, date, branch, amount etc).

If you are the seller, do not send anything out until the money is in your account and cleared. Do not send if postage costs are missing, the amount is incorrect or only partially sent. Keep receipt numbers of sent parcels.

4. If you are selling, pack the goods properly. Package in good sturdy box add on a few bucks for bubble wrap.

If you are buying avoid normal post at all costs due to the time frame and also no insurance. Express post is guaranteed next day(in supported areas), but the tracking system is lacking. Registered Post is the way to go for Auspost it comes with $100 free insurance (get more insurance for a few bucks more), it comes with a better tracking system

Couriers are even better but can cost a fair bit the advantage is that they have door to door service (pickup and deliver to the door)

5. If you encounter any problems during the transaction first step is to contact the buyer directly via phone/pm/email.Don't bring the fight to the public forums as it just create for hassles. If weeks pass without hearing any information about the transaction contact the police and give all your supporting information (name address, telephone, receipt numbers etc

And the Golden Rule to remember is:

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
