Police were forced to use capsicum spray on rioters at a BMX event near Bendigo on Saturday after they hurled bottles at firefighters and set fire to a car.
Seven people were arrested after a mob assaulted CFA volunteers who were called to douse a burning car at the Club Court Reserve at Strathfieldsaye about 5pm, police said.
It is believed the car was deliberately set on fire to form a flaming stunt jump.
