Treating a sprain

the other day I sprained/rolled my ankle landing on a soccer ball.
I remembered the R.I.C.E acronym, Rest, Ice, but I forgot what the C and E stood for

I still feel a bit of pain in the ankle. The inflammation died down a few days ago, is it y ok if i was to get back into a normal exercise regimes if there is still a bit of a feeling down there?.

I'm not sure what to do from here, been told to just rest it. Anyone tried ankle guards or wraps ?

the rest of the acronym is
C = compression
E = elevation

I used to get bad ankle sprains. But a few things that i have done helped out

* make sure you choose the correct footware for your sport
*make sure to do the correct stretches before playing
* Tape up your ankle before playing
* Also work on various stability type exercises at the gym

note:when taping your ankle, make sure you shave the hair on your ankle first, I learnt that lesson the hard way lol

for the first 2 weeks after, do nothing sporting wise, then for the next 2 weeks try to just keep things to light jogging, wading in a pool or some swimming.
