I don't understand what you mean "one side to the other"
I am on about the bars that stick out from the front (or back depending on how you view it) of the rack that stop the bar from crushing you while doing a bench press or squat if you can't lift it
 
I’d recommend ‘Power Rack or Squat Rack Barbells’ as those racks are not less than 44 inches in width as you have to stand between the safety catchers while exercising.
