They are not "so called" recommendations, they came about from scientific study.
Ive read that often vegos/vegans actually need More than the typically required amount due to a lower bioavailability of the proteins. You also need to ensure a good variety of protein from different sources is consumed also to help cover all the amino acid bases.
80kg and 180gm is probably a good place to start to be honest.
Being vego, you still consume Eggs yes? They are your best friend. Cant beat them for a protein source in the vegetarian world. Also there are plenty of vego/vegan protein supps on the market now too, not sure just how complete they are, but they are there.
