Hi guys, new to the forum. I’ve been training for about a year now with very little gains. I tried peptides a while back and to be honest they did nothing. About 20 years ago back in the UK I tried various roids and they all worked as you’d expect. Im in Brisbane and looking to try something new to help gain some muscle which is proving difficult as I’m now 44. What would you recommend?

I'm guessing you're suggesting your hormones are a bit more ravaged due to Roid use than the average 44 year old?
spartacus and vonfram88 both admitted to having low Testosterone but still made gains into their fifties.

What is your diet like?
How much protein fats carbs are you eating?
Also recovery time between workouts will be different when not on steroids
Im 42 and i blast and cruise on trt dose im a shift worker whos sleeping patterns are all over the place but i still manage to make gains working out 3 days a week

Whos a troll ?

He's probably referring to OP. Goose doesn't suffer fools or one hit wonders like OP gladly. Goose has a reputation not jusr for stinging insults.

I remember about 10 years ago this was a very active Forum with a lot lifters and arguing. Goossey musta handed out one of his stinging insults. A few people took it a bit seriously. Over the course of a year or so the Forum aplit - those in Goosey's camp and the "other" camp. Went on for a year, insults, threats etc. Eventually Goose got sick of it so offers were made to "sort it out" like Men ( or children lol). A meet up was arranged at Princess Park one Sunday morning. On here you woulda thought it was the Bandidos and the Comancheros meeting up with all the tough talk. What seemed like 50 people on each side turned out on the day to be 6.
Anyway a couple of the mouthier or braver souls stepped up (one at time). Goosey soon flattened them with some quick knuckle. All was over until arguments and wrestling matches ensued about video footage being taken. Just go through the old threads and you'll see some of spite.
Moral of the story: beware Goosey's stinging insults and left hook.

Nobody here with the exception of Alex is a fighter Stiff,i can handle myself but have become gun shy since going to jail and cant be bothered with the consequences of hitting anyone. Im training my mind to walk away. You may have to re-analyse your motives for being here if you are looking for guys to throw hands

Like an old Man reminiscing I'm just keeping newer peeps informed of historical events.

P.S. Goosey isn't the only Knuckleman on the site. Big Mick is former Australian Karate champion. Prolly a few other Boxkickers too.

Thanks for the insight
Well one thing ive learned is to respect those who are wiser and those who have walked the walk in BB.
Everyone has different experiences and opinions although on other sights some have given bad advice and wont accept correction.

ive met people who post here and a few i havent met personally i know their real names. Peaceful and humble guys who share the love of iron,im a bit suspect of dudes who dont reveal themselves. I was a bit of a gamer a few years ago and its called"smurfing" which annoys me. You show glimpses of genius in your posting style mate, come out.

I wouldn’t call them gains- there are no personal bests to look forward to anymore; only maintenance and occasional hints of former strength. But at least it’s real.

TRT is basically PED use. In the dosages some gym rats use, it is no different to the typical steroid abusers. If people want to do TRT, good luck. Just don’t go into a competition and pretend that your performance is real, and be prepared to use the stuff for the rest of your life because your HPTA will be cooked after a couple of years on the stuff. The quality of the rest of your short life can then be defined by injections and creams.

what a load of bullshit. TRT is prescribed to bring your test to normal levels. You only fail a drug test if your test EXCEED normal levels. Im jumping on it when I feel the need(which I don't at the moment) and im still going to compete in a drug tested fed and pass said tests. Armed with my TUE,you wont be able to do shit except cry foul, when all ive done is read the rules and played to them. Im well aware your connected but no shits are given,im on the powerlifting drug register despite not having competed in 4 yrs and counting, have passed not 1 not 2 not 3 but 4 drug tests at work in the last year alone. Come at me bro.

You will have to show me in the IPF/APU/PA and ASADA rules just how you propose to get a TUE for exogenous testosterone.

Connected? I have zero influence in powerlifting or ASADA. If you want to artificially enhance yourself with testosterone and “compete” with masters lifters who have accepted their age, the plastic bauble you receive on the podium will have even less meaning.

My effort to get a TUE some years back ended with a brick wall.

I was on a med for a short time that had, if you used one particular variety, a very small amount of a banned substance (it was listed as a blocker, something that blocked labs from detecting naughty stuff like testo, but in amounts that would not do that particular job anyway).

I only applied for the TUE in case I was tested out of comp, and in case I ever had to use the variety that had the blocker (sometimes there is a chance that the pharmacist would be out of my brand/variety so would provide the "bad" stuff) even though I would be on it for only a few months with ZERO performance enhancement and I was not intending to use the other brand.

Anyhoo, sent off all the paperwork to ASADA. A few weeks later I get a letter telling me that the application was rejected because I needed a specialists approval, not my local GP. Apparently, a doctor isn't a doctor, even though their instructions never mentioned the requirement for a specialist, just a form to be filled out "by your doctor". Who'd a known, right?

So, to get a specialist approval for something I was not using would require another GP appointment ($ + time) to get a recommendation to see a specialist (kidney) which would take some months (plus lots more $$ and time) to get past the wait list by which time I would no longer be using the prescription meds that didn't have anything in them that was banned (unless, as stated, I had to use another type due to supply issues).

So I gave up.

Also, in the process I found that if you DID get a TUE for anything, it had to also get passed by the fed (for me at that time it was the IPF affiliated PA), so getting a TUE from ASADA was just the first step.

Also, from memory, the IPF (and affiliates) will not accept a TUE for testosterone treatment. So you might get an ASADA or WADA TUE but still not allowed to compete. Unless you are from Russia because in the IPF Russian lifters don't get tested unless you are at the world champs and get on the podium and forget to make your annual "subscription" payment.

*cough*

Not sure what the status is right now with transgender lifters but I'm certain that the only trans competing would be men competing as women so I assume that testo suppression would be used. But as I said, not sure of that particular status.

So, to summerise, you won't get to compete with a TUE for testosterone. And if you do (cos you didn't tell anyone) you will get pinged if you are tested cos it's not the amount of testo you are using (well, it can be if you go overboard and are taking 3gm per week like Oni) but the ratio of test to epitestosterone, which will get thrown out of whack by even small doses.

This is why it's pretty plain to see when someone who is a masters lifter is "on the juice" when their numbers increase or stay level as they get older. That's not how the human body works.
