I agree with oni.

Get taxed for buying, not earning.

I would be happy with that because I don’t spend much but it would likely make the rich even richer and harder for low income people because their spending is a bigger proportion of their income.
 
I'd say it's inevitable that the GST will rise. Australia's nation debt is huge and growing.

Here's a question; if Businesses love our stupid immigration policy coz it drives consumption up and wage growth down, would Businesses also be against a rise in GST due to it negatively effecting consumption? ....... [MENTION=895]Shrek[/MENTION]

I’ve no idea.

Most people don’t understand Fiscal Policy, but they do understand a tax rise. This is why both sides of Government are loathe to increase the GST, be it in the Nations interest or not.
