Depends on how serious you take training and your goals. If you're just an everyday lifter who's doing it to stay healthy and strong, you should just aim to always be relatively lean.

If you complete, then there is definitely an on and off season.

If you just like to get fat because you have no discipline and then go on a diet because you feel guilty, you're doing it wrong.
