I still don't know what you are on about. The literature and statistics don't provide a compelling case for stricter gun laws in Australia.

You seem to have a pattern of resorting to insult whenever your feeble intellect is challenged, and worse, pulling the mental health card out as an excuse for just being a ****. That is demeaning to those who struggle with mental illness and who choose to self monitor and be civilised. If you are unwell, sort yourself out. When you have your shit together, come back and play with the big boys.

I caught you out telling tall tales - working as a crowd controller in NSW when you were loaded up to the eyeballs- I guess you had no entry drug test, the bs about your US visa, washing down your psych meds with rum etc.......ffs get a grip.

Gun oil mate. They should make an after shave that smells like it.

I walked into a gun shop the other day, I just love the smell and bought back so many fond memories.

when I was much younger (18) I used to sell watco spotlights and driving light, the owner Bill Watkins was my step dad, a great man, a true gentleman.

i used to travel around Victoria visiting primarily gun shops and sport shops.

so many false statements in here i dont know where to start

The author is also chairperson of a women's pro-shooting organisation.

McPhedran writes for criminology journals and happens to be a shooter. In contrast, most literature on firearms in Australia conflates them with evil and the authors are decidedly anti-gun.

Mouzos, Leigh & Neill are criminologists who also write about gun control in Australia and their stance is understood to be anti-gun, yet their studies show the overall ineffectiveness of trying to control violent crime via gun control. The $800 million gun buyback appears to have been a waste of money. It had little to no effect - maybe firearm suicides decreased a little (although barely significant statistically speaking) but people simply substituted another method. There are more firearms in Australia now, 20 years after the buyback and firearms licensees still don't tend use their firearms to commit crime.

Howard created a signature policy as a monument to himself and now he can fly around the world with his wife on his generous travel allowance and proselytise on gun control.

shame you never post any proof

like your laughable claim that i must be lying about having worked in security because i would fail the drugs test. shame there is no drug test, but dont let that get in the way of your arguments. also who the fuck would lie about having a shit job?

You have the author names, and there's plenty more references to draw upon on the Australian Institute of Criminology website. Some of the literature contains narrative with more than two syllables at a time, so it may be a little challenging for you.

I don't know why you lie all the time princess. Your employer didn't drug test you? Righto, I'm sure their license is in full compliance with the legislation in NSW. Or are you some kind of secret agent who doesn't have to be tested because you're on a top secret derivatives trading mission that lets you into the USA on falsified documents.

I think there are probably three or four people who still bother with this forum. I may look here again in another month, then again I may not. If you want to get a message to me, you know what I look like and I'm sure someone on the forum can point you in my direction. I'll have a hot cup of tea and some hydro creams laid out for you. Bin day is Friday so I would prefer you drop in before Thursday night but preferably no later than Tuesdays otherwise things get a bit stinky.

there are solutions to the "problem" in the USA regarding crazy people gaining access to firearms and committing dreadful deeds. However it would not serve my "cause" if I appeared to falter in my pursuit of increased freedom for gun owners in a Australia.

Im actually quite moderate in my views on many subjects and possibly even a closet socialist of sorts. However, having been quite heavily invested in the gun vs no-gun dichotomy, I have learnt that conceding any ground at all to the contrary position does not serve my particular agenda
and I'm quite satisfied with how weak and ineffective the anti-gun lobby is at present. I Refer to it as a "dichotomy" not because of an immature binary view of good vs evil or black versus white, but with a realisation that the most vocal of our opponents will maintain their stance and can be quite fanatical.

Gun owners and decent folk let themselves down when bullied by the government post-port Arthur and post-Monash. The ground that was surrendered and the freedom that was given up really achieved nothing at all. The pro-firearms people have learnt how to positively promote their interests now and have even regained some of the lost ground. I'm no fanatic but I must hold the line. I can't for a second consider uttering anything that would enable further compromise of freedom.

Even though I personally would not enjoy carrying an Armalite around in public or concealed carry if I had the freedom to do so (face it - it would have to be a pretty nasty society if we felt we needed to) - I can't and must not suggest that I'm against any measure that increases the availabity of firearms to suitable people.

So just to summarize the above, you are going to say anything and everything no matter how false and incorrect.

Then theres Bozo. How many times has he been caught out blatantly lying in this thread - must be approaching double figures. You can see why he wants to be allowed to carry a side arm. Most reasonable people would like to use him as target practise.
