    He can do what he wants but I have seen umpires having a beer and a few smokes at half time before. The thing that made them a good umpire was knowing how to interpret the rules properly.

    All the talk about the rules is fine we do running training plenty of it I just thought that a decent program to help keep injury free was a good idea as its something that isn't talked about amongst other referees. If players go to gym to maintain or improve performance why cant a referee

    Interval training (jog/sprints) should be your main focus. The strength training is secondary, unless you're training to run a 9 sec 100m.
