Is it worth it? Was it hard to ge ta loan? Where did you get your equipment, and did you buy new or used? Liability? Other issues?

Are you glad you did it? If you could go back 5 or 10 years, what would you do differently? This is the place where gym owners, or those interested in maybe starting a gym down the road, can talk about it!

I'd love to own a gym, but I'd end up with no customers cos I'd ban every kunce that annoys me, I'd be as successful at it as I would be at owning a brothel, a bottle shop or a kabab shop.

It would be tuff going. Especially with the amount of 24hr gym Franchise's available now. If you purchased a Franchised gym you are pretty much buying yourself a Job. You will make more in your current Job then buying a Franchise. And from the looks of it your investment will loose value.

Take these 2 examples. Selling below setup costs. Most likely going to loose a couple 100k....and your house...etc.

Fuark! Imagine repayments on either of those 2 business loans!!

They probably purchased new. So more like 350 to 400k... Basically paying for the name and Franchise fee.

A friend a I opened gyms at the same time.

He went the franchise route, I went independent.

At the end of his 4th month, he bought a top line Porsche, 4 years later I get my first AMG.

He owns 2 or 3 and is killing it.

Went to school with the guy that owns/started the RBT gyms in Melbourne. He's done alright for himself, in the process of opening one in Perth with a mate of his.

He's a good trainer but also has a very good business mind which is why I think he's succeeded
