What do you prefer and why or do you use a combination of all?

combination, I use all of them for variety mostly to break up boredom. sometimes for chest, flies or cable. same for arms, barbell, dumbbells, machines and cables.
 
I don't get too fussed, I'll use what's available at the time, cant handle waiting.
 
I love free weights.
When I'm at the gym I'll use the seated chest supported row but not much else in the way of machines. At home all free weights with occasional cable for triceps or cable curls.
 
I'd use probably 90% free weights, but use a couple of machines regularly like leg extension, lat pull down. Other than that maybe for some variation occasionally...

Use all of them for all body parts.
Probably prefer the plate loaded/hammer strength type machines over the pin loaded ones, except maybe for legs
 
Combination, what's not to like about variation and different types of resistance to stimulate muscle growth.
