The inverse that a close grip bench press brings in more triceps. It never eliminates the chest. So the wider the grip, the less flexion/extension in the arms.

knob-jockeys that primarily use an extreme wide grip for both pushing and pressing are heading for a catastrophic shoulder issue, might not be straight away, but will happen.

Yeah, working any muscle over a Short range ultimately reduces, strength and the flexibility of it.
When that happens the dude goes and does some funky foam rolling and some stupid "to the stars" in fashion stretching program which is usually prescribed by a physio.
 
Well if grip width isn't going to make a great deal of difference to my pec development, I'll stick to the neutral 1 inch from the smooth grip thanks.

Not gonna sacrifice shoulder health for incremental benefits lol

I was never wrong. A wider grip means you'll have to flare your elbows out more and with a close grip bench you're tucking your elbows.
 
So now you're arguing with anatomy? If you don't think hand position affects the recruitment of the triceps, you've clearly never tried either.
