I always do them with my toes raised on a plate or plank. Then you don't need to go as low.

You could be on to something there. Might try.

Have temporarily replaced stiffies with looong stride weighted walking lunges.

Walking lunges can suck a bag of dicks

Lunges must be great because I dread them. By the third set I start moving like a tranquilised hippo.

SLDL stretch my hammies like nothing else and I can almost do them without any knee bending now. The back seems takes over once I go above BW for reps.

Think glutes, think hinge joint.

I squeeze by butt like there is a 50c coin in there and imagine there is an electromagnet in my fanny pack guilding my hips to thrust hard into the bar. Does that sound allright?

Wouldn't that just draw the coin into your anus?

Think walnuts.

You don't want to thrust your fanny pack into the bar dear god.

You want to contract your butt cheeks baby, contract!

Move like this;

After a prison stint you could probably upgrade from using a 10c before hand to a 50c afterwards

Another point to note is that when you tip forward, don't think of tipping at the hips, but pushing your hips back. You'll get a better mind-muscle connection.

I much prefer RDL's (with slight knee bend) and straight back as I'm very wary of my form with all types of deadlifts.

I think the way Silverback; is describing it would be beneficial for the lower back strength but as with all exercises, starting light is an absolute necessity. I'd like to try this style, just thinking where I can fit it in as I tend to have a fair lower back pump after deadlifts as is. The lower back seems to be a tough one to determine the difference between working the muscle and injury.
