Boom. Power cage, bar and 400 kg of weights. Not a flash bar but give the weights a little TLC, stick them in the sand blaster and a coat of paint and good as new. More than a lot of people will need.

Look for a great sale on like if some gym shop is closing down. Then buy an Oly BB and some bumper plates, then you're good to go!

I did that all for < $300. So if I had to spend another $200 I would stalk gumtree and buy a bench and then maybe a set of stands.

Auction site like Evans and Clark are G2G. Gyms, Tafes, Universities etc. all renew their equip and auction off the old stuff. Can get good buys.

If really required, sell the std bar and weights to pay for the oly gear.
For comparison i payed $250 for my force rack, Bowflex bench, Std 6ft bar, std 5ft bar, 3x sets of Db's and 180kg of weights to suit.
Then another $150 for a esprit multifunction gym..

Bar and oly plates is all I would need, that's what I started with, I even made some squat stands out of buckets with cement and wood,

Local trash and treasure first. Theres always bars and plates around.
Gum tree I find you have to buy a heap of someones stuff for 1 or 2 necessary things.

:p

i'd get an adjustable chair that goes flat for bench

a squat "stand" that can adjust for the bench, shoulders and squat.

a barbell with weights

if theres any change, an ez curl bar

500 clams?
Didn't wingers part with his gear for 500? I'd say that.

Racks and benches can be found cheap, it's the weights that add up so just scour the second hand market
