Less whining, more action.

Forget the politics.

ALL the feds have politics. ALL the feds have issues with management and the minute of running an organisation. ALL sports groups have exactly the same issues. Yes, gentle reader. Even, or especially, the IOC, considered the managing body for the greatest sporting event on the planet (unless you are a follower of the US NFL, where to be a world champion, you just have to be a national champion).

Focus on the important stuff. Turning up to test your limits under strict standards. Pushing yourself past your comfort level. Achieving greatness, even if only in comparison to your past self.

I dont compete because, or despite, who is in charge. As long as I get a fair crack on the platform, all that other stuff doesn't matter.

I joined PA simply because the competition venue was 15 minutes away from where I lived. Marcos ran his comps 1-1 1/5 hours drive away. It was just more accessible to me. I'm happy with my choice because when I set a world record or win a medal on the international or national stage, I have earned it and I have done so under the strictest judging in the sport.

If you want more out of your gym life than just maintaining what you "used to do", then compete. It gives you a goal, it gives you a schedule to meet, it gives you purpose and it gives you motivation and focus, a reason to train harder than you ever have before.

If you don't want to do any of that, then go do crossfit and have fun. There is no shame in that, but don't dissuade others from achieving greatness.

Good post Goosey. Good post Woody.

Yeah, just what PL needs, another Fed :D ........... right Shrek

Is @Sticky still with GPC? Notice his Gym is now Vahalla Strength not a PTC.

Drove past on the weekend and noticed some Masif Muthafarker at the front, Strongman I assume. Like Pritchard, but bigger :p

Why don't they use Full Squats instead of Quarter Squats?
Why do they allow such massive Back arching when Benching?
Why do they allow Sumo Deads? (pls don't say "if it goes from the Floor to the Thighs it's a fucken Deadlift!" ...... right Goosey)

I think that powerlifting will remain a niche sport until such a time when you can run a comp in a normal commercial gym with no specialised equipment. PA at least does not seem interested in growing powerlifting outside the city gyms.

If P.A. is gonski and GPC looks to be in trouble (Sticky, Trent gone etc) it maybe time for a new Fed to be created. Someone's gotta step up mates!

Not that this forum matters like it use to, but let me set *that* comment by the shit stirrer straight.

i have no issues with the methods used in relationship to the ROM or the pretzling in powerlifting, it is or was the “train and eat this way to be strong” message that was pushed.
Squat
Dead
Bench is fine as long as it’s part of a solid template.

Power lifting is a tough sport, hard yakka on the body.
all I can say is if you’re going to be stupid you gotta be strong, I just feel (and this is just my observation) as an onlooker there needs to be more emphasis on ensuring these young dudes focus on preparing their “raw materials” for the stage.

its like any sport minus the muscle ripping off bone and shit.

one big comp a year, spend the time making yourself “truly” strong instead of just pushing until you break, but where’s the money in that?

Sticky gone from GPC?

Has he? I noticed that his Gym became Valhalla Strength, now it's gone. I wondered if he must've left Powerlifting altogether.

seriously powerlifting is hardly a serious sport, so who cares. now pa is not with the ipf, it has little credibility in the sports mainstream

It needs to be clear that powerlifting is not a sport, it's a competition, a very niche one and by the very nature of how it is organised and the type of people that compete it will always be on an amateur level.

Its a very serious sport with great athletes participating. Its amateur in name only, the top powerlifters basically train professionally and have careers centred around it
