How many people here started lifting due to Depression or a bad breakup

just what the Title asks, and how many of you have stuck with it? And did it work?
 
Sure have! Better than downing the booze and staying up locked in the house on yeyo for days on end, that's for sure.
 
Lots of kunce started lifting cos of breakups, kunce think, I'm single now, better shape up so I can get some hot pussy!
 
How would you approach chicks at the gym after shaping up? Hahah, never a more awkward situation than that I reckon. Chatting up in a club way easier.
 
Neither. Was picked on and bullied at school. When I was able to bench a whopping 60kg and chin my bodyweight for reps kunces didn't pick on me any more
 
I got dumped once........................ for a tram driver, do you believe it, who the fuck gets dumped for a tram driver, that's fuken embarrassing.
 
As mentioned above. I experienced it all pretty early in life. And lifting has sort of saved me in a way.
It makes me want to live and love all those things!
 
nah i started lifting coz i was a fat kunce and to help with footy, come to think about not much has changed, still a fat kunce just dont play footy anymore.....
 
I've had severe depression and social anxiety since I was a young kid. When I hit my mid 20s I was introduced to a lovely substance called Mdma. It got rid of all my social anxiety and made me feel awesome. All of a sudden I started going out, even by myself and it got way out of hand, after 1.5 years of out of control partying I completely fell apart emotionally as a person. I went to the doctor who refered me to a psychologist. I was never a gym person and always disliked the gym junkie type of people but my shrink told me I should exercise and join a gym. That's pretty much how I got into lifting. When I first entered the gym I was a super skinny fat 66kg at 6'2 and couldn't even do a push up.

Well done Ronie, keep lifting, leave the rack till you're massive, then hit it with both nostrils once you're big, that's when you become confident and social.
 
I didn't start from having depression as such - but I was depressed about the way I looked - even though I was a "cool kid" at school and had heaps of friends etc - being 120kg and 14yrs old isn't the best for confidence levels when your looking to start "hanging out" with mates on a friday night, or looking for girls and also another big factor was being better at Rugby - so it started from that and over a 6-7 month period I went down to (at my lowest) 79kg.

My BEST training though has come after break ups - whenever I have had a break up (3 major in my life) I have got in the best condition ever haha
 
I just started just cos im a vain kunce, I thought imagine how many chicks I'd pull rolling a rig like Arnold, still hasnt happened btw.
 
Nah bro looking like Arnold, sorta look like Arnold on a pizza diet without the muscle
 
Actually went opposite, when I started lifting & stopped eating shit, it caused my breakup. Good times haha
 
It would be difficult for people who suffer moderate to severe depression to start lifting whilst having depression. Two of the symptoms of depression are an almost complete lack of energy and motivation.

However once the depression has alleviated it is a good idea to exercise, whether it is lifting or any other form of exercise, as this will help with self esteem, opportunities to socialise and increase chemicals in the brain which are beneficial in keeping depression at bay.
