No other subject evokes as much fervent debate and conjecture amonsgst Rugby League fans alike, as to who is the fastest player in the NRL. So in your opinion who is the fastest player in the current game?

In my opinion it would have to be James Roberts from the Gold Coast Titans.

I think Hayne was, when they did the race a year or so ago... Shaun Johnson would be one of the quickest over 40m

Yeah, Shaun Johnson is deceptively fast. I remember watching him mow down a flying Michael Jennings once, who is no slouch in the speed department either.

I'd love to see the NRL bring in a combine style system for players - of course before they move onto the draft.............................................. :)

1999 saw carl lewis race in Sydney.

Same night they had a 60m sprint; cannot be sure, but I think I saw an NRL player run 6.9 for 60m, which is a pretty good time.

Yes, it would be great to se a NRL combine event of basic strength and power, albeit many of the top performers in the NFL don't really make an impact.

Of course, there are the freaks like Calvin Johnson, 3.55m standing long jump and more. When I show people how far this is, they find it hard to believe.

Lee Oydenryn* would have been one of the quickest.
He beat Martin (Chariots) Offiah in the late 80's or early 90's. Can't remember exact year.
