Aust's worst aths team at a Commonwealth Games?

meh , who gives a toss , not like the commonwealth games are really anything special , what you have pretty much 3 countries that stand any chance , england , aus and canada , and the other team don't stand a chance

Maybe they're too comfortable down at the AIS.

Accommodation, food prepared by chefs acting on the advice of sports nutrition doctors, small stipend, daily massages, on-staff physiotherapists, and enough leisure time to bitch about their head coach and get him sent home. And then an 18yo won gold in women's high jump, with a jump of 1.94m.

"Patterson is the athlete without a track. Her coach Dave Green picks her up several times a week and the pair drive through the streets of Leongatha in country Victoria looking for an empty oval to throw down some mats. Eleanor then jumps - very high - over a bar onto the mats."

Maybe we'd get more medals if we cut funding to the AIS.

so if it were the worst performance for a while which were the sports we should have done better in? I know the triathlon we bombed in but what else were we expected to do better?

in aths, it is much more than the big three, there is Jamaica and Kenya for a start.

Still think we did pretty well, but aths is increasingly harder to win for us aussies.

The high jumper proves that money and facilities are not necessarily the solution. Fantastic talent, and I hope she goes on with it.

If Dave Greene is not careful, she will get poached by another coach. Depends on the sport, but they can be paid by the govt about $10,000pa for each world-class athlete they have. That plus the glory and the rest, like talking tours and seminars, it can get pretty good for them.

Or making the AIS athletes pay back money (HECS style)
I dont agree with this, but it has some merit...
