My husband is 38 and too old for Jay Jays but not old enough for somewhere like Lowes.

If he was 28 he would be too old for Jay Jays :p

Lowes isn't targeting an age but rather a price point.

Tried Myer? Decent selection of both casual and distinguished.

I wouldn't mind some advice-

For the last few years I've been wearing a good knock off copy of one of these -

I'm thinking about buying the same one second hand(but the real deal obviously) the fake has finally stopped ticking, been hunting around a bit but haven't found one yet. I am also partial to tag heuer chronographers, when I was a kid I thought they were the bomb and dreamed about having one. Just don't know if they are a bit to wanky. Probably something like this -

What do you guys think tag vs rolex? And is it okay to wear a silver watch on your left hand if you have a gold wedding ring or should I be looking for a watch with a gold bezel to match the ring?

I've got no real preference re tag vs Rolex...not really into ostentatious displays of wealth like that. U pay more for a luxury car, u got some extra function out of it, but a watch is just a watch. As long as it looks good, wgaf about the badge. I picked up a nice Citizen watch in KL last year, it was on billboards everywhere there and I got the same one. Looks kickass, I love it. Fraction of the price of a Rolex.

Re the wedding ring, stick with silver watch regardless of gold ring. I know a couple of guys who matched silver wedding ring and silver watch. If I had my time again I'd do the same. Looks good IMO. Sometimes matching can look try hard and gay in the bum (like belt and shoes on a guy - in some cases), but silver ring/watch not too shabby IMO. Not a fan of gold watches...wouldn't get one to match my wedding ring, or any other reason for that matter.

Farkin hell, can't believe this is a bunch of blokes posting in this thread worrying about bullshit.
T-shirt, shorts and thongs, year round, if I get cold in winter, a jumper of some sort, usually whatever I find first while digging through my pile of clothes.

Yeah mate I'm usually pretty conservative, but a watch is a pretty understated way to show some flash. People don't notice whether a watch is a rolex or citizen unless they know what they are looking at or are very perceptive.

I've been looking at second hand from a estate dealers and repos. A quality european watch is something that holds its value and there are craftsman that specialise in repairing them if they break. Buy one during a recession and there is a pretty good chance you can sell for a profit when the economy turns. For me I'd more likely hand it over to a son or nephew who appreciates it when they come of age.

A citizen is a good functional watch but not exactly the kind of thing you keep in the family as an heirloom.

I'm leaning towards the tag at the moment. Just gotta fill that boyhood dream, from a time when you had to have a watch cause mobiles didn't exist.

Excellent stuff Brick. Looks bloody nice. I've been thinking about this since I last posted in this thread and gotta say I do like those tag heueres. Prob next time I get a watch I'll go for a Tag.

Shit yeah bro brah

This thing is a thing of real beauty and furthermore what's more also its a beautiful thing.

I wasn't overly captivated when I saw it on the Omega website....pics just come nowhere near doing it justice.

When I came across this vid though, I knew straight away I was gonna get it. Check out 1:30 onwards. It excites me in the groinular region.
