alcohol is a type of carb, its calories, so your drinks strength will reflect that

a low carb beer is mostly just alcohol calories

a dense darker beer will have more calories than just the alcohol, hence the body

pure blonde on tap is great, hahn superdry in a bottle is great, beers like carona are already low carb just dont label as such

although spirits like vodka may be better, its much easier to over drink since its way less liquid

Scotch neat or with rocks? 50-70 calories, and with a good single malt you tend to enjoy it more than just drinking it for the sake of getting a buzz.

I've seen a few guys order vodka/water/lime to keep their intakes down too. I think I'll stick to scotch.

You're going to the pub 1-3 times a week but your 'muscle goals' are to lose weight. Judging by that you've been having your cake and eating it to for too long. Choose a goal and take steps to reach that goal. Either lose some weight, dont drink when you go to the pub or change your muscle goal to 'bulk' and drink whatever the fuck you want.

Vodka diet coke..
Low carb beers are about 100 kcal per stub

Mate pub three times a week??

That is bad in all respects. Waste of time, money and health.

So when do you lift?? After the pub?

I have a pub across the road, and am mates with the owner, still only go in there to have a drink once every 6-8 weeks. The rest of the time I am lifting or doing other things.

Get your priorities sorted. Drinking three times a week and losing weight and gaining muscle do not add up and will not happen. You can only really so one or the other with any sort of efficiency.

Usually only once per week but can be up to 3 times.

I'm not at the pub before the gym :)

But yeah I think you're right, I'm always trying to have my cake and eat it too... Priorities I need to follow better..

Maybe I need to find other social activities

Glad i dont care for drinking....Also glad i hate my local and just about every other pub/club in Sydney. Is it just me or are there more and more Fcjkwits every time i go out? Cant even have dinner with the missus and a stroll through town without every second bloke starring or trying to prove something.

I like to feel fresh, this is why i train. It makes me feel good and even better when im done. Grog does not. It makes me not train, not eat well and just feel like a drunk mopey sloth like the rest of them.

Everyone wants to look like Arnie, No one wants to train like him....

Geez mate, where are you going out??

I agree on feeling good, which drinking does the opposite to me.
Ive never found an alcoholic drink i like the taste of. All beers taste the same to me, as do wines...
Pubs for me were never great, even in good company...
BUt as for OP, 3 times at the pub a week for someone who is training hard, is just wasting money & time..

yep, 3x a week is excessive IMO.

When I drink I usually have vodka, lime & soda or scotch and diet coke. If I had to have a beer it would be super dry. Used to be able to drink pure blonde's but now they give me headaches. Also, I have tried a few of the sf cans, bourbon I think it was and it was the most disgusting stuff!

I think this is just a part of getting old......

In saying this i do find the same thing and would much prefer to have a couple of mates over for a BBQ and a couple of beers, only very occassionally i go out to a pub and when i do i try to find the out of the way country type pubs which are few and far between. One of the best pubs i have found in Melbourne whihc has been there forever, is the NottingHill, country pub atmosphere in the suburbs...

What do you drink if you want to keep calories down? Water

I prefer beer, which beers are the lowest calorie? None, they are all shit

It's too hard to cut out the pub it's a big part of social life.. I just want to minimize harm to my daily calories. I'm talking about pub only 1-3 times a week average.
I go to the Pubs to eat food, esp the $10.00 Scotch Fillets.

Water is the best, zero calories. All alcohol turns into calories after its ingested, its worse than regular calories from food. Alcohol also interferrs with every bodily function, right down to all your hormones like Testosterone. Alcohol is poor mans heroin, alco's can't afford the good shit so they drink themselves like a bunch of idiots. If you can't afford opiates then why bother?

Pub is a big part of your social life because your trying to fill a void in your life by making yourself feel more secure and content. If you had higher confidence and higher levels of security among yourself then you wouldn't have to lower yourself to the levels of the other fuckwits who hang out at pubs. Pubs are Schools for adults basically, where they are still watched over by Security and Police instead of Teachers. Their basically for adults that havn't yet grown up.

Defuq?
pubs are ok, I don’t frequent them often but I like them.
you get to drink some booze, eat a massive parma and nail a skank before hitting the casino.
