Whats your military : bench ratio?

wingman

Super M0derator
Whats your military press compared to you bench press? Is about 2:3 normal? At what point in either direction would you say something is wrong (eg form, mobility) ?

My strict overhead is over 75% of my bench, my push press is around 95% and my close/medium grip bench are the same

It's an interesting topic, as having a high ratio like mine would imply my pecs do practically nothing when I bench (and possibly a technical issue) whereas a low ratio would suggest your shoulders may be the weak link in your bench press

Seems to be a theme here

Chris(Spartacus) and Ben(El Freaky) are in the 60-66% range and have about 10 years training on myself, Oni and Sem who are at 75% +

Mine is 3:4 but when the numbers are that small they shouldn't count.

Need to try push presses and see how I go there.

About 3:4, but the gap is getting wider. I suspect it'll be around a more "normal" 2:3 before too long. Working dat chest, and I reckon I'll have one to speak of, pretty soon, lol. :D

Maybe as people progress as a lifter, their bench form gets more efficient. Where as the press not so much as it relies on strength much more so

It's been ages since I've trained the press, but I think I used to press 5x47.5kg and bench press 5x75kg, so 63.33% back in the day.

I've never done a 1RM so not sure
However I do 6x90kg bench and 6x60kg standing press

Damn, if they are strict, good form, that's bloody good man!

Doing well on building strength :)

Thanks man, strick OHP is probably my best lift. Always just "clicked" technique wise so thats why the number is higher then all my other lifts % wise.

Thanks dude, slowly but surely.
