Tour de France 2012

according to Cadel's diary entry for yesterday, he doesn't seem too disturbed. yes, he's lost time and his time trial started off slow. he only really got into gear towards the end, according to his own assessment.
But let's see what happens in the alps/pyrenees.
he's pretty good at getting himself over the line there without too much help (or any last year) from his teammates.
Wiggins is a man down in his team and a key one for helping him out in the steeper routes, so let's give it a few more days to see what happens.

*eternal optimist*

feeling sorry for the guys that were shafted by the crashes in recent days. Especially Frank Schleck, whose race is all but over now. Very sad. We always forget that any sport that involves mechanical equipment can go awry when something happens from which you can't recover, despite your own physical ability.

Onward...

i felt sorry for sammi sanchez , i have a soft spot for euskaltel euskadi
sanchez holding out for the olympics but now that is over f

Wiggins is looking good but don't forget Froome... Looks like he has the legs. Sky is a ver, very strong team.

Tour de France: Punctures, crashes and chaos after tacks found on the road

The Tour de France came within a whisker of being plunged into chaos yesterday after tacks strewn at the summit of the descent of a major Pyrenean climb caused dozens of riders to puncture tyres and at least one to crash.

Bradley Wiggins was forced to change bikes after a mechanical incident but otherwise came through unscathed, but others, around 30 of the 162 taking part, were far less lucky and punctured. Croatian Robert Kiserlovski was the most unfortunate – he skidded off the road and broke his collarbone, while 2011 Tour de France winner Cadel Evans punctured three times in less than a kilometre.
"We think the tacks were thrown on the last part of the climb and on the first part of the descent," said the Tour's technical director, Jean François Pescheux, who showed one of the offending tacks to reporters afterwards.

There' some fcuk'ed up people out there with strange ideas, a load of tacks were also found on a stage of the Tour Down Under this year but were luckily found in time. Not sure what the outcome was, whether they found out who it was, or a coincidence.

Good on Cadel for having a go, just not got the legs this year.

bunch of tossers, fucked up place to full a stunt like that good thing they are pro riders and know how to handle the bike

the diuretic is also used a masking agent for other perfomance enhancers , going by what we have seen in the last 2 weeks , either he isn't taking any performance enhancers or isn't taking enough

that's basically the only reason diuretics would be taken in cycling as they are certainly not advantageous for performance. on the contrary.

looks all over now. The 2nd Brit could have dropped Wiggins easily last nigh, just sat and waited fromhim many times. May have gained a minute if he went hard last 5km. Oh well, it is a team sport and his day may come in future.

Interesting interview last night indicated that main reason people watch tour was French scenery, followed by mountain stages.
