[Article] A Mathematical Challenge to Obesity - Body Weight Simulator

Have seen this before. It's pretty cool. Just wondering how it's getting BF% though? I can't see anywhere to input starting figures?

It's a great thing to setup bulk/cut phases over a year!

Freaking nerds. A physics lover, accountant and nobody really knows what Kevin is but he loves to read things.

You can select advanced calcs where you can input starting bf%
Look on right side of the screen

Ha I keep getting error msgs about "bmi too low"
Face palm :p

Pretty cool, but like with all calculations.. plenty of room for error, particularly when it comes to the body of someone who doesn't fit into the "GP". I've used schofield and harris benedict formulas et. el. in the past and they have been great, but for some clients not so good. Ie; it says I require 3500 for maintenence. I clean bulk on 3.5k calories and maintain at 2.5k. The more advanced and an our lier from the general pop, the more attention to detail req!

Yep, all these models are OK if you fit into the "bell curve". I don't (serial outlier) so always find them to be off by anything from a small amount to a huge margin.

All these models have to be idealised to a large extent because it's impossible to factor in all the variables that depend on an individual's makeup. So they're just guidelines I guess.

Ashamed to label myself as a freaking PT.......

Sucker, I am an Exercise Scientist and Rehabilitation Specialist.... YEAH!

Also Viviane the above suggests I nerded it up with research articles, anatomy labs and biomechanic labs for years.

I know!! because my trainer is the same! ... and i am her guinea pig :D:D
(or lab rat)

then again, she's one of my lab rats for my protein recipes LOL

LOVE biomechanics ... always had an interest in it. Every training session we talk about the latest topic of interest in that space (ie she talks, I ask questions in between swearing and freaking out).

Wish I could go back to uni but there's probably an upper limit to the number of years you can study.... I've clocked 13 years at uni already haha.

Post grad biomechanics would take you. Next time ask your trainer to explain Inverse Dynamics with accompanying equations.

for the record, I'm blaming you tomorrow morning when I rock up and ask her within the first 30 seconds :D:D:D

you're probably right about the post grad ... not like I haven't done more than my fair share of all other kinds of mechanics :):)

How'd that go for you? (or more specifically for her)

Dave, had to reschedule my training session as I had a migraine today.
But I'll be asking her, as planned, within 30s of entering the gym on Monday arvo!!

She's got exams this coming week so may be on topic.
She may appreciate the study help or she may hate me.
the amount of DOMS I suffer post monday may be the indication :D
