If we had some of those laws here, Australia might just be a better (safer) place to live:)

Why do we want her back here?? What would be the benefit to society in general??

If she comes back and we keep her locked up we have to pay for her expenses, if we let her out she will deal drugs to our kids, it's a lose/lose scenario!!!!

Because she's Australian, Indonesia is a 3rd world shit hole with messed up laws. Having some of their laws here would only make Australia a more draconian/socialistic country/shit hole........like Indonesia :).

It was only marijuana, not speed or heroin or ice or some shit. I think she deserves a second chance for sure. She could benefit Australia in a number of ways ....IF GIVEN A FUCKEN CHANCE..... Why assume she wouldn't?

She's not going to be able to do shit in a cell in Indonesia, I feel sorry for her, she should of got a large fine and sent back to Aus from the beginning.

I don't condone what she did, but I think she got the book thrown at her. I initially never felt sorry for her, but I do now because I have seen people turn their lives around after doing something stupid. This poor girl has paid a heavy price and deserves to come home and have a second chance at life.

She's not a pedophile or a killer, or a sadistic psycho, hell bent on hurting people. She was just a young girl who made a mistake for some quick cash and now she's deffinetly paid the price for that IMO.

FFS, she would of got less for robbing a bank.

Get her home asap IMO, hopefully she can have a life again.

How would you feel if it was one of your kids?.....made a silly mistake and punished as much as her.

seriously, its a bit of weed..

having the key thrown away is fucking way overt the top.

bring her home.. she has endured enough.

I agree its just a bit of weed. It's a bit of weed for us, and frankly if she was here I wouldn't give a fuck. Heck my previous house mate used to refill his bong several times per night.

In Indonesia however, the penalty for possession is death. She was lucky to not get that, and only didnt due to Australian involvement.

In Singapore, there's a penalty for possessing chewing gum. And a harsh one for littering in public. Both of those things are done at norm here, but we must respect the rules of other places. If I was littering I would expect the penalties for doing those things if I happened to do them.

Just like if I go over someone elses house and their rule is to take shoes off before entering I comply. Whereas at my house I don't give a damn.

I can sort of see your point, but I tend to agree with Wingman more, she knew the risk, and she is lucky she did not get executed. May be she will turn her life around may be she won't, really I could not care less about some junky drug dealer either way, it's only weed, but it still carries the death penalty.

I would not travel to Indonesia myself as I think the place is a rats nest anyway but it's their country and their rules, you play you pay. We have piss weak laws and punishments here, this is why people are out of control, cops getting shot, people getting shot in the street, I live in Syndey and there have been several shootings in my local area in the last few years, including a cop getting shot outside a Mosque.

I am soon to move out of here, as I do not want my kids brought up around here, exposed to the scum that is wandering around the streets.

Bit off topic, but the guy was let off, and is now walking the streets again:

Couldn't have said it better myself. Some people on here have a warped sense of justice.

spending any amount of time in a bali prison is sure to fuck you up big time , well for that matter spending any amount of time in any prison is sure to fuck you up , wouldn't be a walk in the park

Shapelle Corby has been put forward for early release by indonesian authorities.
Do you think she should be released?
Indonesia recommends clemency for Schapelle Corby | Perth Now
Yes most definitely! Countries such as Indonesia or Saudi Arabia and the like are nothing but a bunch of utter hypocrites. Mixing culture, religion, and politics serves no one justly at the end of the day. Shapelle may have done something wrong according to the law of the land sure, however when compared with what the rulers of the countries I've mentioned have done and are still doing, her crime would pale into the land of insignificance. The common men and women pay a huge price (with their life at times) for what? For whom? Based on what: religion, culture, politics, or a confused combination of these three criterias?

You may read my words and automatically think that Fadi is taking sides here. No, Fadi is not taking sides, but what he has chosen to do is to put things into their proper perspectives. That is all.

Fadi.

bring back capital punishment so we don't need to hear about her again

the coverage for this story is more annoying than the lady that dingo ate her baby whatever her name was
