ok..... I'm hoping I haven't wasted precious Sushi $ on the book I bought today. 50 Shades of Grey by E L James. Anyone read it yet? It's supposed to be really pornographic. Didn't even flick through the pages at the shop.....

Sorry not something I would have bought....

Cliffs...

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.

wow, its a trilogy!!
Im not into erotica but since I have been home during the day for the last 3 weeks, it has been on some talk shows about it being so raunchy its banned in places. See how daytime tv brainwashes! Next I'll be buying an Ab Circle Pro and In-Styler hair straightener!! Garrrrr!

My tastes are probably tame compared to most, but reading Neal Stephenson (and co authors) latest bo9ok, the Mongoliad. Based on the time of the Mongol hordes, but a generation after Genghis.

Marching powder by Rusty young one of my favourites, read and enjoyed the alchemist. Motely Crue : the dirt was one of my favourites too.

Catch 22 was a very different book , I can't say I loved it but it was interesting and a very different take on the typical glory of battle ww2 book.

Have you read on the road by Jack Keroak. Awesome book definitely a must read book from the 50's similar writing style to catch 22.

Hi Alpha, I read and own a ccopy of Brave New world.
Had to read it in High school. Wasn't a huge fan, took a bit to get into.
Why do you choose this book?

mainly cause it's a classic. will be last on the list though.

heard catch 22 was funny, but will also be last, as i like the looks of the others first.

i really like the alchemist, felt a bit simple and easy to read, but i liked the overall message even if flawed.

Reading "Send me no flowers" by Jenny Tomlin. Omg...that is all.
Can't put it down!!

Despite warnings from friends and family, Donna believes that Danny is the man with whom she will live happily ever after, until it gradually emerges that he is a dangerous criminal who gets his kicks by terrifying her.*Send Me No Flowers*is a novel about a young woman’s fight for survival

Great book, one of my all time favourites, cult classic. I recommend it to everyone.

catch-22
Haven't read it.

do androids dream of an electric sleep
Interesting book, as you're probably aware the one blade runner was based on. I don't remember being blown away by it (like I was with SIASL) but I had to read it as a huge blade runner fan.

brave new world
A prediction of how the future may turn out. Fun spotting similarities in our lives and this book. To compare it with 1984... 1984 hits you like a hammer, the government is oppressive. This book is more about the insidious ways we can be controlled and how we accept it.

1984
Similar to ABNW. It's bleaker. Orwell is a genius, I would describe it as a study of how to break the human spirit. Can you make a person say 2 + 2 = 5 with them believing it? You tell me...

I really like fantasy, and Herbert wrote a pretty good one here. It's interesting to note that he led safaris or some sort of work which required a knowledge of how to survive ina hostile/barren environment. It shows in the book.

LOTR
What's their to say... greatest fantasy ever written? I must admit others criticisms of it being 'a bit drawn out' in places are valid but........ for the most part I strongly disagree with these people. Tolkein had a subtle touch that was lost completely in bringing these movies to the big screen (courtesy of CGI animators sticking their dick in everything).

those are the books next on my list, hope theyre worth reading.
