Diploma of Fitness ( aka cert 3 + 4 pt and diploma for rank of 88 to enter uni)

im thinking of doing the same if i don't get the right op to get into exercise science course

Sounds good,

Who were you thinking of doing it through?

There are ALOT of piss weak courses.

Hadn't looked into it to much yet. Am deferring uni for a year.

Either through AIS or through TAFE.

I don't really get though, if i don't get the right OP is the diploma of fitness able to get you into the course? (exercise science)

Depends what the rank is.. when you have been out of school for a year OP means nothing.

It all goes on rank..and diplomas are equal to certain ranks at some UNI's.

I am doing mine through AIAS ( australian institute of applied sciences). Get it done in 1 year ( 6 subjects a tri-mester).

I couldn't be happier with having studied there. My lecturers all advocate deep squats, deadlifting etc. You get to train for free at the physio as well if you want, also train at Sassoms.

not ais , aiAs.. two different institutions. last time i checked AIS didn't do a Diploma either.

Here is the low down on exercise science:

It will teach you jack shit in regards to training that you could learn from reading off the net from good coaches.

It can teach you a lot about anatomy (good but you can expand on your cert stuff yourself) and a lot of.intricate physiology that will be useless to you if you just want to work in a gym and not go on to research.

It will teach you how to read and decipher research articles (very good thing).

Having a Bachelor degree looks nice on paper but to those those that know it is just that and won't get you far.

It is needed to get into rehab or master degree strength and.conditioning if you want to go that road (sport clubs love master and doctorate degrees even if the non degree person would be better).

It will cost you a lot but give you no increase in money in a gym setting. One PT at my work has a Ex Sci degree but gets paid less than people without one.

It does make clients think you are better as you have a degree and can market yourself with that to sound more special.

dave im not planning to be a pt, rather a rehab specialist, not sure yet, or a physiotherapist. So i would need exercise science to get into those courses.
