Do you enjoy your occupation?

I plan to get my diploma in construction then use the diploma to then go in to air traffic control while leasing my licence to a few developers I know, then I might look at actually using it myself down the track

That's pretty risky mate, as the builder you hold ALOT of financial liability for a raft of different things. There is so much shit that can come back on you, I wouldn't be in a hurry to slut my license out.

It's such dry shit to study, who are you doing the dip through. I went through QMBA for my cert IV, tafe night school for the dip and am now doing the adv dip through correspondence, it's a fucking grind.

CTI..
One of them is my cousin, I'm looking at doing it, though once it is all closer to happening ill obviously weigh up the pros and cons and make a decision them.
I can't say I'm looking forward to it, especially with another little one on the way! But I know I can't keep doing contract work all my life, I'm so over it!

Edited, boring arse post.

Why the hell do you want to be a air traffic controller. If you love stress become a site manager or a WHSO, plenty of stressed out ****s in those jobs. At least when you lose your shit a plane doesn't crash into another plane.

Yeah, and the MB do anything to back them!! I lost just under $4000 once for back charge on a 4x4 driving course (for mine work) and uniforms..
I never even did a course or recieve uniforms, but the builder claimed I he supplied and payed for them.. There's some arse holes out there!!

From what I know it's very good money, and decent hours, which will allow me to renovate my own places without working all night and weekends

Edited??? Lol you completely rewrote your post

LOL no one else is interested in that shit thats why I edited.

If you know the in's and out's of the process it's totally geared in the subbies favour. Theres some really good day courses run by QUT that are worth doing, once you learn the act back to front it's pretty hard to get shafted.

The MB are all bark no bite those pricks can't do a thing and most of their advice is shit.

Other than developers, I don't even know if I got the aggots to lay it all out on projects anyway, and if that's a dud path as u say, then I'll probably only ever use it on my own renovations... That's still a bit more turnover than going owner builder and turning a house every 6 years

Been thinking about mine work, and been in the Security industry the last 10 years, but those figures seem fairly low. My earnings are currently around that last figure (Due to just completing 'training' and my last job was a touch over).

I have mates that work in the mines doing OH&S and Emergency Services, pay is a tad better also, think around the $120k mark.

When I was interested in getting into it, I wanted to go for Emergency Service/Response Officer but with the tickets setting me back $10-15k and the time away from the Mrs, I decided against it.

I enjoy my work. It's taken me to a few places I would never have seen otherwise. I've travelled to the U.S, Canada and Europe all expenses paid, business class flights, the whole 9 yards.

Is it a long term career? Not really. I guess like most things it's just about finding the most effective and rewarding exit strategy to either start your own business or branch off into something similar.

Yeah I left the mines in Feb, sucks being away from home. I'm back doing security again, and back loving it. Not at the casino anymore unfortunately, I miss the fun I used to have, general door work is much less entertaining, but a solid monday to friday starting this week will be good.

I work in a hotel, mainly reception and managing the restaurant. Pretty good most of the time but it can get bloody boring (especially on night shift)
Theres only so much trawling of the internet one can do before you start to go a bit loopy
