Possible career change. Firefighter

To the topic starter, Have you considered the defence force? The RAAF and Army have fire fighters, the pay and benefits in the adf far out weigh the regular fire fighters wages. 18% super ( not including your own voluntary contributions ), rental subsidy ( which is substantial ), free medical and dental and far far more perks.

Have a look into it, it will be competitive as well but i imagine far less competitive having so many roles applicants can choose from.
