Anyone care to share their good, bad or indifferent travel experiences. Places you loved or hated, and places you're keen to go to.

I'll start off with a few. Hopefully I don't come across as up myself, but I've been lucky enough to visit a few places. I'm sure there are a few travel addicts in the forum who've been to heaps more places than me.

Been to America and Canada a few times.
Enjoyed: New York, San Fransisco, Montreal, Vancouver, Canadian Rockies, Yosemite Park, driving in Arizona, Niagara Falls.
Didn't enjoy: Toronto (lol, I lived there for 6 yrs up to age 12, when I went back as an adult I realised it was kinda boring), Las Vegas (bit seedy and over-rated, enjoyed being dazzled by the lights though, and drinking yard glasses full of beer).

Europe:
Good: London, Swiss Alps, Munich beer halls, Rome, Copenhagen, Croatia, European chicks in general
Not so good: Venice, Florence

Been to Bali 4 times and Thailand twice. These days with a young family my preference is the tropical type holidays - no use taking kids to places like Rome, they'd rather hit the pool and the beach.

I really like Thailand, it's probably my destination of choice these days. Love Phi Phi island and Phuket. Not a fan of Pattaya, full of sleazebags and hoes. Maybe if I was single.....

Also been to Japan a few times, pretty cool place.

Places I'd like to get to.......Koh Samui Thailand, NZ Sth Island, back to Canada again (if anyone has tried Canadian butter tarts, these are the tastiest creation on God's earth mmmm, I wanna go there just for them). I'd like to go back to Europe when my kids are older, and also would like to take them to Yosemite Park before they're too old.

Shiiiiiiitt, rsi from typing too much, I need to rest and recover...a holiday would help!

I have been to Canada, Alaska and fiji....

Loved canada, best place (yes, the butter tarts are rather tasty...), spent most of my time on the west coast.. Alaska was amazing also. Valdez is the most beautiful area.

Fiji was good too, Suva was a dirty pit, was not a fan of there at all..

NZ: Full of my family gotta play it like a spy and wear disguises.

Mexico: Twice. San Cristobal de las Casas is probably one of the best towns/cities I have ever been too. Tulum has really lovely water in the Caribbean sea. Palenque has some of the best ruins and a really nice forests and mountains. Guanajuato was a lovely city too, really liked it.

UK, France (Paris), Italy (Rome to Campania), Greece (Athens).

UK was boring. Paris was amazing. Italy was amazing but poorly organised. Greece involved a police guard on our street and my father and I being chased by rioters.

Ive been/lived in new zealand, both islands

If your into spirited driving along twisty non busy roads with nice scenery, get a decent fun rental car or grab a cheap silvia from auckland (they go for pretty cheap over there) and go have a blast on highways 2 and 35 between Whakatane and Gisbourne. its a part of NZ no one goes to, and if you can, get down to Hawkes bay and do some wine drinking

Also been to USA, ive driven up the west coast on the coastal road between LA and portland oregon. Awesome drive even with a shitty rental car.

next plan is do a road trip LA to New York, do the route 66 and all that

as you can see all i care about is driving heh fuck touristy shit

Mate the scenery when you drive around western parts of Canada and US shits all over Oz. I saw mooses (moosai?), also had a black bear literally 2-3 metres away from my rental car. We stopped and stared at him for a short while. Awesome.

lol haven't had the pleasure as yet. My next destination is gonna be a real humdinger... 2 nights in Port Macquarie after xmas. I'm not expecting to be blown away, but it'll be a nice change from normal day to day life in Sydney.

Actually want to do this myself plus a few other things on the way.

2 nights in Port Macquarie after xmas

Saw my first nude sunbather in Port Macquarie, good times good times.

You'll have to tell me where I can see this. I'd like to post some pics in the AUSBB Female Grading thread. That's if I don't get arrested and/or assaulted in the process.

Been to Greece and was not impressed. Have been to Cancun 6 times and loved it every time. Beaches are great, food is great and the pools are huge... thats all I need.

I've lived in Germany for a year.

Been to Paris, London (over-rated), Norway (most mesmerizing place I've ever seen), most major cities in Germany, Austria, a bit of czech republic (shithole), a bit of swiss alps (amazing), drove through belgium, mm I think that's it.

I'm gonna go find my latest japan trip pics. Hehe

America - las Vegas, Hawaii, new York, L.A (nothing beats LA for draw dropping partying)

New Zealand - affordable accommodation and entertainment

Vietnam - friendly people. Beautiful country side. Stayed on an island

China - beijing was polluted. Didn't stay long.

Japan - culture shock and a half. People polite and the shopping fashion beats aus hands down

Fiji - main beaches omens main island were shit. The sand was still dirty. If u go try and stay on the adults only island where it's still clean

Thailand - lol now that's a country who I believe has lost alot of it's identity so much western commercialism.

Plans for when I'm retired - all of Europe

- Loved Cancun
- Hated LA just a bigger, boring version of Brisbane
- Las Vegas was great
- Vancouver and Whister, I love canada and especially whistler, the most amazing place i've ever been and I'm heading back there soon. Would jump at the chance to go there again. Can't speak highly enough of it.
- New Zealand beautiful country.

UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Thailand.

Highlights - Amsterdam of course. Such a crazy city, nothing else like it on this planet. Switzerland is like Australia, very laid back, no one takes themselves to seriously. Germany and Ireland are great if you like to drink, and France and Italy are great for the sites, Eifel Tower, galleries, the vatican, etc.

Czech Republic, more specifically Prague is pretty good too. Shot guns out with some police officers and army guys who take tourist out for extra cash on weekends. AK-47, M16, sniper rifle, Magnum, pump action shot gun, glock.

Good: London (lived in East London for nearly 3 years), Edinburgh, Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, York, anywhere in Japan, Paris, Berlin, Cologne, Dresden, Munich, Amsterdam, Tuscan wineries, Florence, Venice, Rome, Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Hvar, Bratislava, Prague, Ljublana, Piran, Bled, Barcelona, San Sebastian, Ios, Santorini, Mykonos, Nafplio, Olympia, Thermopylae, All of Egypt, Istanbul, Gallipoli.

Bad: Athens, driving a car in Italy, Pisa.

You've certainly been around Freako, nice list of places mate.

I've been to a few of the same....Dubrovnik, Split, Zagreb.....never got to Hvar but I heard it's pretty good....Edinburgh, Bath, York...and a few other of the major cities you listed.

I never got to Spain or Greece, would love to go there.

I agree with Ceffo about Japan, when you walk around there and see the way the young'uns dress it makes you realise how uncool Aussies are. Much more stylish over there.

Only been to NSW and New zealand (both islands)

NSW was holiday at hastings although it was a bit to isolated for my liking, but damn the beach girls were hot.

south island on nz was a lot more tropical and beatiful than north island, but i still liked north island.
