Does the syrup penetrate the fruit in canned fruits?

I have noticed that canned berries are 50% cheaper than frozen berries (frozen is cheaper then fresh). Anywhos the canned stuff normally comes in a sugar syrup. Do you think that sugar penetrates the fruit or can i just was them off in water? I really dont need anymore suagr in my diet.

having worked in a fruit processing plant , in the fruit process a lot of the juice is lost from the fruit , when you eat it from the line it lacks taste and juice ,you might just as well be eating cardboard

but when you get it from the can you get the juice back , so to answer your question yes the juice does penetrates the fruit
