I used the narrow cables where you can fit a bar across one cable to the other, not a single cable.
 
Also, because you need to start from the bottom position it becomes awkward because the bar is not fixed unlike a barbell.

The first vid is hardly a squat.
It would tend to make you lean forward hence very little weight could be used and little resistance to the quads.

It would be the opposte, you would lean back to counter the weight, not forward
