    Fed up (2014) thoughts?

Personally I dont like artificial sweeteners , bit of a chemical shit storm . Some interesting info here Artificial sweeteners may leave their users glucose intolerant | Ars Technica Also there is evidence that the brain expects the energy from sweeteners and when the calories don't arrive it...

    How healthy are kebabs?

I was watching a British show some time back and they where showing a group of young adults what goes into kebabs , and I mean from the Abattoirs to the shop . The butchers seemed to use the shittiest cuts of meat , basically everything they couldnt sell or pack into a sausage and that went...

    Fed up (2014) thoughts?

I watched this and cringed at the way the fast food chains have gotten a foot hold in the schools. The basic message of sugar leading to inflammation in the system seems to be the latest focus in the studies Ive been looking at . The extra load of calories from the sugar to make up for the...

Skipping breakfast may actually be good for you

Youve made your point clear Baz , no swaying you thats for sure . If only you could explain away the 2 different results from eating the same meal in Catalysts gut reaction ?.

Skipping breakfast may actually be good for you

Certainly true for someone eating well and when talking about 1 meal in many , problems arise for continuous response to insulin a la diabetes a growing problem. I dont think anyone is worrying about a single meal jzpowahz , very few people would eat clean all the time. Back to the OP though...

Skipping breakfast may actually be good for you

The human body and its digestion and food reaction is way more complicated than I can explain . The only point I wanted to make about insulin is peaks and troughs and how what we eat plays its part in whether those are in extremes and the following damage that could do .

Skipping breakfast may actually be good for you

Baz check out this show Catalyst: Gut Reaction Pt 1 - ABC TV Science Catalyst: Gut Reaction Pt 2 - ABC TV Science I think it will change your mind on boosting your natural defense through what you eat , if your open to it that is. Also check out the young gymnast , obviously no problem as...

Skipping breakfast may actually be good for you

I wouldnt sculpt diet purely around GI , just use it as a pointer to certain foods impact on the body . IE whole foods high in fiber have low GI in general which gives good prebiotic and probiotic health results boosting immunity and healthy body function. My only point in regards to calories...

Skipping breakfast may actually be good for you

Sorry Bazza20 but I just dont understand your hostility on the subject. There has been a lot of research on how calories arent equal by many different sources . None of it has anything to do with me but I do tip my hat to those who have . The link posted by steveP says it all . There is a...

Skipping breakfast may actually be good for you

I agree that the human body is incredibly efficient in storing fat but it does matter what you eat and insulin just corresponds to that as it responds in a bigger way to processed calories or those high in sugar than it does to the same calories from whole foods which are more resistant to...

Skipping breakfast may actually be good for you

Thats pretty close to what I am talking about kaz , a delayed breaky . I only say that for trying to achieve benefits from fasting a little longer . I couldnt eat that little though , the hunger pains would be kicking in . I love breaky :).

Skipping breakfast may actually be good for you

I wouldnt recommend bypassing breakfast , I agree with the science behind fasting in that your body is in repair mode while your not digesting food. Delayed breakfast would be as far as I personally would go but not skip it , just keeping the body in repair mode for slightly longer after sleep...

Skipping breakfast may actually be good for you

Might have misunderstood me jzpowahz ,I have no doubt that StrungOut's opinion on the 5/2 diet is correct . I mentioned quality of calories for a reason and it wasnt to say you can eat whatever you like , far from it. The human body is well designed to turn whats eaten into stored energy ie...

Skipping breakfast may actually be good for you

I have no doubt that would be correct . The whole calorie counting thing is still flogged hard everywhere , was just watching an ad the other day for the latest national health campaign and it was the simplistic calorie in calorie out through exercise to lose weight , thats been thoroughly...

Skipping breakfast may actually be good for you

I think the positives in the result reflect what the results are with the 5/2 diet , where you fast for 2 non consecutive days a week . Fasting keeps your body in repair mode and fasting for a short time in the morning would keep the overnight repair going for a little longer . Proper eating...
