REPUTATION SYSTEM
Reputations are points gained or lost on individual posts within the discussion forums. Because these are tied to individual posts, they reflect back on the person who made the post, thus giving them a reputation. Your reputation can have positive and negative changes. Better yet, as a member of Ausbb - Australian BodyBuilding, you can add to others' reputations. If someone gives you a great answer, you can give them a positive reputation point(s) as a thanks. If someone blasts a thread with off-topic dribble or posts garbage, you can give them a negative reputation. With time, these reputations will help the "star posters" rise and the people who only provide noise to become visible as well. Reputations are indicated by a small graphic. The more positive your reputation, the more visible the graphic will become. This will be displayed by all your posts and in your profile. To add to someone's reputation, you will click a small scale graphic at the bottom left hand corner of each post. It looks like a green plus sign. When you click you will be given the option to approve (add reputation) or disapprove (deduct reputation) the post that the member just made. It also gives you a chance to leave a comment. The reputation system has two distinct ratings: Reputation Score and Reputation Power. Reputation Score is an attribute of each member that indicates the quality of the member's posts as rated by other active members. A member's Reputation Score increases when other members who have reputation power approve posts by that member by clicking on the "Rate this Post" link in the upper right hand corner of the post. A member's reputation score can be seen by the number of small green squares in the upper right hand corner of any posts by that member. Comments given to a member can be viewed by that member in his or her profile. Reputation Power is the amount by which a member can affect another member's Reputation Score. Reputation Power takes into account length of membership, number of posts, and Reputation Score. A member's Reputation Power can be seen in the upper right hand corner of any post by that member. The green, blue, and red squares in the Latest Reputation Received table on the My Profile page denote the effect of the comment on your Reputation Score. If the rater approved the post, and at the time of commenting had a positive Reputation Power, the square will be green. If the rater had no Reputation Power the square will be blue. And if the rater disapproved the post the square will be red. Adding to a user's reputation is easy and is a excellent way of letting them know that you really appreciate the thread/post that they've created without clogging up forums with "thank you" posts.I encourage everyone to start using this system so the people in this forum that help others out and post quality info can stand out as excellent forum contributers. We should bin it, it just gets people to form little cliques where they all pat each-other on the back. It's very "American Midwest high school", no wonder it was invented in the USA.
Nobody's going to look to one side to see the reputation points to see whether the text itself is worth reading, and rightly so. Let each person's words stand on their own - only thing being that if people want to, they can put their experience, background and physical training achievements in their signatures, to show where they're speaking from.
