    Buying a quality barbell

A little teaser. Yes, the pics were taken with a shoe, but for now they will suffice. GymCare were amazing to deal with. Hassle free service, great bunch of guys (very knowledgeable), and can't complain about the price for the quality of the product.

    Carb back loading ??

What's the reasoning behind 50:50 protein/fat? The protein I get, but why would equal fat be recommended? Seems excessive.

    Buying a quality barbell

So uh, sent back the MM barbell that Hunter Express partially destroyed in transit, 15 business days ago. Still no refund from gym direct, presumably because they have yet to receive the barbell... Even a Picard facepalm won't do justice. In other news, I have a black nitride ABC bar on the...

    Sweetener in Whey (effects)

Do your own research and reach your own conclusions. It is a personal choice like many other things in life where no absolute certainty is had, as the science is not conclusive on the subject. Around a hundred health regulatory bodies around the world have deemed these artificial sweeteners...

    Sweetener in Whey (effects)

I would avoid them. All of them. 950, 951, 954, 955, 961, Stevia. The lot. Granted Stevia is a plant extract, I'm not convinced it is healthy to ingest large or pure quantities of it. I also don't like the taste, so that rules it out too. There's a lot more controversy about the others, not...

Protein shakes bad for the liver?

You're not the only one! Boy did I get an earful. I've been taking WPI for about 2 years as a dietary supplement. Today I received 3rd-hand information, allegedly originally from an eminent gastroenterologist, who having worked with personal trainers and athletes over the past two decades, is...

Personally I don't like the pulley system. Everyone I've spoken to who has one, has said the plastic guides on the weight stack rub the 50x50 tube, causing it to scratch off the powdercoat. Most low-end racks with pulleys seem to use the same design. Structurally it has no impact, it just...

    Buying a quality barbell

I don't think they are mutually exclusive. The cardboard tube is deformed, torn open right where one of the sleeves are on the barbell. There weren't end caps on the cardboard tube either, so dust/dirt/sand could have got into the bearing assembly for all I know. The bearings look well...

    Buying a quality barbell

Well I was looking forward to trying out my Muscle Motion barbell today, and giving you all a review. 2 week wait for stock to arrive at GymDirect, and just over a week for delivery. Was it worth the wait? It "arrived" today. Dropped off at the front door, didn't ring the doorbell (as you do)...

    Lifespan fitness?

What did you buy? Weight plates you can't really go wrong with, unless you need calibrated weights. Everything else they sell seems fairly generic.
