Deadlift - stomach / ab injury

I have only had one session of deadlifts with a trainer prior to today. I did my first set this morning without my trainer, and started on a very low weight, so I could practice form (having watched numerous Youtube videos on the subject last night just to be double sure I remembered my traners advice).

However, during the set, when moving my body upright during one of the Reps, I damaged a stomach / ab muscle ont he left hand side. Its not painful right now (i.e. when not exercising) but when deliberately try and find the muscle by tensing it and pressing on it, its a sore.

Whilst I'll probably need to rest up / see my phyiso, any ideas on what idiotic thing I've done worng this morning?

I started with a warm up walk, did some pull-ups, then proceeded to the deadlift.

Cheers

Per the image below, my pain is right on the very edge of the below person's left abdominal muscle group, in the top left hand corner of the muscle "square" just above the belly button (i.e. about eight centimetres above the belly button and then about 10 centimetres to the left - @ the very edges of the abdominal muscles).

Sounds like you strained ab abdominal muscle. Maybe rest for 2-3 days.
If pain persists see your Doc.

Thx m8.

What a massive pain in the behind.

I'm still unsure as to whether it ocurred due to incorrect form per my lift (e.g. lifting with the abs instead of another area) or whether its simply just one of them unlucky strains.

yeah. i know roughly what your talking about. i had that type of pain when bench pressing, i felt a massive strain in roughly the same places that you've discussed, well, on the lower abdominal wall.

Rest for a few days, then when you come back, go easy. your form possibly was more fcukt than a hooker on a sunday morning

haha! Given it was my first time going solo with the Deadlift, I suspect you're getting close to the answer.
It feels a bit better today, although still sore. I reckon I might give it 4-5 days (although get bored and sneak into the gym after 3 days!).
Thx
