Strange, silly, don't believe me? Ok then, time to answer me some questions:

1. Is testosterone anabolic?----------------------------------------------------------Yes!
2. Is testosterone anti-catabolic?-----------------------------------------------------Don't know what you mean!
3. Is cortisol catabolic?---------------------------------------------------------------Yes!
4. Is walking as in the above photo stressful?-----------------------------------------No!
5. Is walking relaxing?---------------------------------------------------------------Yes!
6. Does walking clear your head and put you in a good mood?-------------------------Yes!
7. Is cortisol a stress hormone?-------------------------------------------------------Yes!
8. The answer for #2 is yes; testosterone is anti-catabolic. That means it's anti-cortisol.
9. Now, what can you deduce from the above as to the effect walking would have on your hormone balance? Would it be anabolic, anti-catabolic, or both?
10. It would be anti-catabolic. Bingo! Now read answer #8 above and give me a smile! Have a wonderful and powerful day!

When I busted my back the doctors said I would possibly never work again.

I had to use a walking frame with wheels and sleds to move around the hospital.

Weights were the last thing on my mind.

Gradually I was able to walk a few steps, then around the house, then around the yard, then around the playing field.

It took about 6 months of walking in agony to overcome my injury.

Traction and other forms of popular voodoo just made me worse.

The doctors always told me not to do so much.......

BUT

The same doctors wanted to cut me open, remove my discs and fuze my vertebra together and screw rods into my back.

In the end these same doctors do their cutting and send you away to heal.

How do we actually heal and recover? ON OUR OWN

I refused to let them at me. Contrary to all medical advice I went home from hospital just wanting to be able to walk. No operation.

To me walking and forcing myself to be functional and mobile again was more beneficial than all the specialists, doctors and experts combined.

Walking is the most biomechanically natural action we humans can do.

I hope none of you ever find yourself learning to walk again.

Walking is magic for mending as well.

My back still has issues but only when I get lazy and stop walking for a few weeks.

Thanks Fadi

PS

Be kind to your spine. Its more important than you may realize.

I would tend to agree that walking is not stressful if done for short periods of time. Walking for long distances will indeed be stressful mainly for the muscles, tendons and ligaments in your lower leg.

It is a good exercise, but like others you do need to make a consistent effort over time.

At the beginning of the year, walking was part of my general physical preparation for the gym - 10,000 steps a day or equivalent. In combination with a dietary change, it dropped fat off my waist and helped make it easier to add muscle.

Cute dog. Does becoming more hairy mean an increase in testosterone?

I've hit a bit of confusion on that, Fadi... isn't testosterone produced in greater quantity as a result of more stress on the CNS, like by doing things such as Squats and Deadlifts?

Could the above example work with other activities, instead of walking?

Meditation maybe?
Or just relaxing in peaceful surroundings?

i gave up walking after having to walk for 9hrs in the midday heat of summer , after 9hrs of walking i think i have done enough walking to last me a life time lol

nah, i do my fair amount of walking , me and my gf go for a walk every night helps relieve the stress of the work day and gives us time to talk

150kg, he had already trained for 3 hours, had squatted a PB 210kg and missed 216kg twice (double bodyweight)

I reckon he'll manage over 200kg.

The distance is 130m

Neighbours and cops, even Feds train at PTC.

Quite often the neighbours come out and watch, especially during comps.

I live in a T shaped court, that has dead ends at either end, zero through traffic.

I have lines marked on the road for 20m sprints, 40m sprints, 100m sprints and the 272m run.

Local kids sometimes join in on the Beep test. Others walking their dogs at night stop to watch.

Its an extremely friendly neighbourhood.

Sure, Markos has put up a vid of Nick walking with 150kg on his back. That raises your testosterone. With walking it's not so much about the anabolic effect, but rather the anti-catabolic effect that you get through relaxation. So either a rise in test or a decrease in cortisol will be great for your muscles. Cortisol = muscle munching/wasting. So it's a different approach through the path of anti-catabolism more so than the rise in test and anabolism. Remember I said test has a dual role; walking like the lady above is the anti-catabolic. Walking like Nick is the anabolic.

Absolutely Hulk. The point I was making is that relaxation of body/mind/spirit, will all contribute to an anti-catabolic environment.

Then it would be clinical and not raw.

PTC is raw lol...in case you hadnt noticed

Not many gyms where you will find a squat rack in the street loaded up to 150kg, or 12 x 20kg plates in the gutter for a Medley, or 2 girls walking down the street carrying a keg

Truth is, I dont have a tri pod lol

Ooops, my school teacher side got the better of me. LOL Sorry about that.

I just spent term 3 teaching my 4th graders movie making / filming and editing and am a tad obsessed.

One of the guys will have a tripod.

Can't wait for the next one.

Could he do it for a charity fundraiser?

Would look great with streets full of onlookers.

People would be impressed.:):):)
