Mixing Supplements

Hi there,

I've recently just started going to the gym and only last week I bought some supplements (protein, creatine, and BCAA's) recommended by a friend whom also put a diet together for me.

The BCAA's I purchased were in the form of capsules. At the time I figured I'd just force myself to swallow the capsules (and also didn't realise there was a powder form, duh). For a prolonged period of time I've been unable to swallow tablets and hoped I force myself to. Thought that was of no avail (yet). Anyway, since then I've simply poured the power out of the capsules onto a spoon and swallowed it down with water.

I'm wondering if this would prevent it from working as it may need to be dissolved in the stomach? Or would it not make much difference as the powder doesn't really dissolve and gets pushed down straight away with the water?

Secondly, could I take it further by thoroughly mixing it with water and drinking it once it's dissolved?

I've seen other sources about how it's ok to mix things like protein and creatine and such. I was just unsure about the capsule as I figured it might be in a capsule for a reason other than to hide the disgusting taste of the powder. :p

The BCAA is by Syn-Tec.

Thanks.

I am not sure on your capsule question, though I don't think it would be an issue.

What diet has your friend put together for you and what type of workout program are you doing?

No problems mixing the BCAA's with creatine but I dont like to mix creatine with protein as it slows the absorption.
Take creatine before workout and the protein after, then theres no problem.

Ive actually read some docs that say protein doesnt interfere with creatine uptake and that creatine should be taken post workout because of its water retention properties youre prone to dehydration.
