Pulled Pectoral muscle help

hi everyone im new here

i recently pulled my right pectoral muscle and currently resting, my pectoral feels better now and im just wondering how i should slowly get back into training, should i lower the weights or less sets or a combination of both? i've rested about two weeks now, should i rest a bit more?

(previously i did about 5 sets of 5 70kg benchpress, 5 sets of 8 shoulder dips, 5 sets of 15 decline push ups, been training lightly for abt 1 year)

apologies if this has been posted before but i tried searching for the terms uplled pectoral muscle and pulled pectoral but no matchs were found
 
i saw a doctor cuz i was told that seeing a physiotherapist before a doctor was like.. (forgot the simile) and he said just give it some rest and start slowly? should i go see a physio anyways?

We are real experts here; that's how we know when to tell you to see the other real experts. So please do like Kyle suggested and do NOT take any "guru's" advice on torn or pulled muscles etc. Look after yourself mate.

PS: When a doctor is sick, who do you think he goes to for treatment? Someone who specialises in the field of whatever is ailing him, that's who.

Unfortunately, General Practitioners are of very mixed quality. The most important part of knowledge is knowing where your knowledge ends - knowing your ignorance. Some GPs are reluctant to pass patients on to specialists, they feel like they're saying "I don't know about that stuff." That hurts their egos.

GPs also tend to be most experienced with the average person; the average person does no exercise and has a terrible diet. So they get a bit confused by people who are in any way athletic.

Some GPs are very good, have broad knowledge and understand its limits. But you or I couldn't tell which was which, since all of them know more than us!

If you were a normal sedentary person, then "just rest" would be fine advice for muscle and joint problems, those people won't put much strain on their healing muscles and joints. But you are an active person and will put more strain on it. Physiotherapists are better-trained to deal with active people who want to strain themselves :D

they will most likely send to you to do an MRI if its severe - best to take some health care cards with you in case.

once its all done just take off 20% of your max and see how you go. I have a feeling u didnt do much pec warmups beforehand?




ive pulled it a alot of times in my time.. Oh wait are we talking about pecs? OOPS
